If you'd asked me ten years ago what I thought the odds were of WA premier one day leading a chant for a club at a sold out HBF park and standing up in parliament and championing a Perth NRL club I'd have said very long! Once in a lifetime opportunity this, dont screw it up Vlandys!

Perth consortium funding didn't stack up and they were openly hostile towards the NRL in the media. No administrator worth his salt would award a spot to that bid.

who is claiming cook is lying? the numbers were outlined months ago werent they? you reckon multiple reports all pulled them out of their buttholes simultaneously? news ltd, fairfax and other rival trades got in a room and said "lets make up these numbers" lol.

ya reckon business men wouldnt speak about numbers in relation to a business proposal? the extract says the $500m was refuted by cookie but the numbers bears claimed for resourcing has been proven correct $120m it literally says in link "Anonymous government officials said that said the NRL had asked for approximately $12 million in annual funding for the next decade." lol, the stadium upgrades numbers have been known for awhile which next paragraph says "It is still offering to upgrade HBF Stadium and build a high-performance facility." lol.

the issue seems that people are combining rugby league junior development funding with stadium funding and saying its all for nrl but stadium funding would be for 3 codes, 4 teams but all the while missings the point that the nrl would be the ones funding the actual nrl team.

its like ya didnt even read the article. pretty much all bears cob said is exactly whats happened and he even said everytime i read stuff that things are fluid when it comes to these business negotiations. the only thing that he said that isnt there is that its far more advanced than people are letting on. lastly if parliament dude was pressing cookie that much then theres no wonder why the whole things gone nda and incognito. all marrys up, all ya done is further justify old mate when you were trying to shitbag him lol suggest you actually read stuff lol

Glory, Force and Bears - OH MY! - should be enough to justify it.
Its also been used for concert events not big enough for Optus stadium and too big for RAC Arena.

so the actual figures of what nrl asked for is closer to the funding for pathways infrastructure etc for kids rugby league which really int eh grand scheme of state budget doesnt even make a dent. $12m a year for a decade in state with billions surplus lol.

however i can see by the tone of the people that cookie faced questions why he hid behind nda's makes complete sense. reception wasnt that great and he has election to win by as much as possible.

What we have heard the WA govt is going to fund, and figures that have been thrown around (all third hand at this point):

HBF Park upgrade: $300-350mill
Ken Allen Temp training ground: $10-15mill
Malaga CofE: $30mill
SHS & DO Program: $2mill a year
Matched funding for NRLWA: TBC based on NRL's funding commitment

The issue is in part because HBF had upgrades for the Womens World Cip in 2023, and a new grand stand just over 10 years ago to boost capacity to 20,000. A full rebuild would seem extreme and not required by either the Force or the Glory.

Yep they've spent $160mill on it in last ten years. They aren't pulling it down and starting again lol. Looking forward to what the plans to get it 27k look like.

Pvl saw that the Tasmanian govt is paying 12 million pa to cover the losses of the afl team for ten years plus hundreds of millions on stadia

He saw the W.A. govt pay 1 million a game for Melbourne afl sides to play games there

So using those benchmarks he demanded W.A. invest 12 million x ten years into league like tassie is doing for afl

If you take out the stadium funding the W.A. govt was actually spending very little directly on rugby league before Pvl asked for something decent
