Sad way for any player to go out, Marsh played above his weight, but unfortunately to me he will always be remembered as a dirty little player, not afraid of the cheap shot

Had 2 good stints with us at parra...
but PJ was a grub and a bit of a bastard off the field too

ex-F###in-scuse me, the guy was a teetoling christian who was happily married with two young children, you dont have a leg to stand on buddy. and for all those people labelling him a grub, sure he had a bit of niggle in him from time time didnt make him a grub, he wasn't like an ennis or something

like a Craig Wing in his prime but a better defender. Sad end to what should have been a tremendous career.

I was actually going to say that...the best comparison as a player was Craig Wing. Marsh would've been up there with Wing in 2003 (which was a time when Wing was one of the best players in the world imo) and would've pushed for at least a Kangaroo squad place.

That doesn't make you a good person, doesn't make you a bad person either.
I used to work with a guy exactly like that who was an absolute arrogant b##tard.

Good to see the Broncos taking care of him. Things like that give a club a good rep with players and must be factor when players are deciding which club to sign for.

In his prime, PJ Marsh was one of the best rakes I've ever seen. From 2001-2003 Marsh was electric from dummy half and could determine the game from that position. He had it all really, a good running game, passing game, organisational skills and a mean defender to anyone who dared underestimated him.

One of the biggest regrets I have is never seeing him perform to his immense potential. Even when he signed with the Broncos he showed glimpses early before injuries ultimately cruelled him.

Some may remember him as a thug, I'll remember him as one of the more exciting rakes of my time.

One of my favourite players. Some of the shots he put on were ridiculous. Shame to go out the way he has, don't 4get he was back into the Origin side his first year at Brisbane. Saw him at my church one Sunday, very friendly. Couldn't get over how big his upper body was, looked so small on T.V.

PJ also missed a large amount of tackles too. I suspect it was why he never really got put ahead of Riddell here at Parra. That and Riddell was better at getting our forwards over the advatage line.

One thing I always wanted to see was PJ given a long term chance at halfback. I always thought he would be a better half back then hooker.

With me having an injured back and neck for the past 15 years,I can declare that his back problems are all behind him.

But after his op,he will get the relief practically straight away.

okay so him being christian makes him a great person automatically?

I have had several dealings with PJ as have many others.... the guy is a tool.

Never really rated him. Definite grub, but there's plenty of them around.

It's sad, but it's life.

Barrett will miss him. God knows he missed him enough times when he tried to belt the little bugger.

Good luck little hillsong man.
