How bad was that ref bluebag. jets had atleast 4 trys disallowed ( 2 for held up ) which were total bullsh*t. illawarra scored their second last try from a dodgey penalty, and their last one was near where I was standing and hw was clearly tackled feet over the line prior to grounding the footy in the corner. ( Know we dont have video replay but why are the linesman there, just to keep the mutes fit running back and forth ? ).
Illawarra were offside continually. Their idea of ten was a mockery and the ref let them do it over and over. The crowd was going off.
When we were down 16 to 12 and then scored only to be called yet another held up I thought the boys looked tired. But to their credit they dug deep and Vince MELLARS ran down the wing beating two defenders to score and make it 16 all with minutes to go. Merritt came nail bitingly close with the kick.
Then with bugger all left on the clock Frankie goes in from the chip and the crowd goes off. Merritt the little legend converts and as they are setting up to return the kick the siren goes. Jets win 22 to 16 in game that they should have ( if it wasnt for dodgey refs calls ) won by 20.
swear that ref was wearing red and white undies. A fricken joke mate.
STOSICs barnstorming try in the first half was awesome. Literally bustling through three large defenders like a bus ramming through mini minors ( get out of the way ) then runs 15 to 20 and instead of side steppin smacks a fourth defender on his arse to score under the posts.
With Cliff MANUA out and THOMMO ( certainly our best and most consistant workhorse player ) I was worried. Heard they will both be back next week though. fingers crossed. THOMMO has a knee or leg injury.
Ryhs LOVEGROVE debuted from the bench, and Lafi MANUA and John SINISA stepped up from Jim Beam cup.
Top team effort with key players out. awesome stuff Jets. Bloody awesome. Couldnt have stood it if Saints had have got a victory that they certainly did not deserve. The wet weather did not assist the Jet's style of play either. But in the end, the best team on the park came out with the 2 points.
Bring on the roosters next weekend.
