The Golden Slipper favourite, Plagiarize has been retired after doing irreparable damage when pulling up after her stunning victory in Saturday’s G3 Kindergarten Stakes (1100m) at Warwick Farm.
Plagiarize injured her offside foreleg at the 1400m crossing when pulling up after thrashing her two-year-old rivals that saw her Golden Slipper quote slashed to outright favouritism at $6.
From her three starts, all at stakes level, Plagiarize claimed the G2 Silver Slipper and the G3 Kindergarten Stakes while her only defeat was at the hands of Mirror Mirror in the Listed Gimcrack Stakes where she finished fourth.
By New Zealand based stallion Stravinsky out of the unraced Sir Tristram mare, Emulate Plagiarize was purchased by the team from Woodlands for $300,000 at last year’s Easter yearling sale.
In another disappointment for the team at Woodlands earlier today they announced the retirement of last year's G2 Silver Slipper winner, Domesday, who like Plagiarize was an outside purchase from the 2004 Easter yearling sale for $420,000. Domesday will stand his first season at stud later this year at Woodlands Cootamundraproperty for a serive fee of $11,000 plus gst.

what a shame for connections and macca. i thought it looked like being the quality 3yo filly next season. as well as being a major chance in the slipper

I'm a shattered man.

Thought a mate was geeing me up this morning with his text message. Then I read it on a forum and then I heard it on 2ky.

Shattered.

What a shame for connections as you say. And what a shane for racing imo. She looked like she would be a real find. A will to win, turn of foot and breed to get a bit more ground too.

And yes, what a shame for me. Oh well, that's racing.

how much will we have to offer the inghams for it?

they'll keep it for sure

they paid $300K for plagiaze mainly for breeding pedigree to produce future winners. she just happened to be a very promising horse

Ken Callander comment in todays telegraph -

The big thing ill-fated filly Plagiarize had going for her in the Golden Slipper was not just her terrific ability, but that she has been set specifically for the Slipper and did not have to regroup after a Magic Millions or Blue Diamond campaign.

On top of that her racing pattern of being able to settle off a fast pace and then produce a big finishing spurt was tailor made for the Slipper.

I hope she produces a foal at stud with the same ability as her.
:(
