Its not a bad idea to have the 20's during the summer. But i doubt without the added attraction of a first grade game being on as well any braodcaster would want to spend the 200k it takes to broadcast a game. If it was a super rater and pulled crowds it would be a superb idea, alas, i am not sure it would....BUT it could be worth a try. Certainly A-league and Cricket of late isnt setting the world on fire, and id love a break from f**king tennis in january too. Then you also need to look at the physical effect the games would have on players. The games would need to start at 9pm to get out of the heat of the day and still then at times they would be playing in 35 degree tempearatures, again its manageable with quarters but is the NRL capable of organising it? Is a broadcaster that in love with league they are willing to take the hit on it if it goes south? Certainly with all of our clubs involved it would be interesting enough for me to want to tune in, but i am a league tragic, its the 0ther 80% of the audience i am worried about.
Its probably worth a trial. Split the comp into two halves play everyone in that half once, semis, final. Wouldnt be a very long season.
