I need league. Any league.
Have night games. 4 Quarters.
Let the kids shine like American College Football and Basketball.
More TV revenue for the game.
Have Double Headers.
Tryout new rules.

Channel 10 reduces everything to a piss up beach event.

Let's watch the best properly.

Sometime ago I proposed an 'Arena Rugby League' - summer indoor semi pro Rugby League. It would be an adapted form of Rugby League thus similar enough to be Rugby League but also different enough to not directly compete with the quality of the NRL.

Areas such as Perth, Cairns, Adelaide that presently can't get an NRL team could apply for a team. It need only be a short season (say 8 weeks then finals)

There are many great indoor venues across Australia that would be desperate to get something like this in as competitions like the NBL are dying on the vine.

How about a off season touch-footy (with more league rules) comp on Fox involving league players.

Put up $100k for the winning team (which can be made up of any players), could be over in a few weeks and would keep the players fit.

I think a national Women's touch football comp, with ladies wearing similar to the female beach volleyball attire would be a great summer sporting tv sport.

Cold beer + Hot summer + Hot women playing football = Awesomeness!!

Its not a bad idea to have the 20's during the summer. But i doubt without the added attraction of a first grade game being on as well any braodcaster would want to spend the 200k it takes to broadcast a game. If it was a super rater and pulled crowds it would be a superb idea, alas, i am not sure it would....BUT it could be worth a try. Certainly A-league and Cricket of late isnt setting the world on fire, and id love a break from f**king tennis in january too. Then you also need to look at the physical effect the games would have on players. The games would need to start at 9pm to get out of the heat of the day and still then at times they would be playing in 35 degree tempearatures, again its manageable with quarters but is the NRL capable of organising it? Is a broadcaster that in love with league they are willing to take the hit on it if it goes south? Certainly with all of our clubs involved it would be interesting enough for me to want to tune in, but i am a league tragic, its the 0ther 80% of the audience i am worried about.

Its probably worth a trial. Split the comp into two halves play everyone in that half once, semis, final. Wouldnt be a very long season.

Would players under 20 who play in the NRL be allowed to play through the summer comp also?

How about players though who have yet to play NRL but are flagged as possibilities to play NRL the following season? You cannot have them playing full year. I have no idea why I am responding to such a stupid suggestion in the first place. Lets even forget how damn hot and humid it gets in summer.

Only Players not in the 25.
Short season 15 rounds & semis.
Night time. 4 quarters. Southern states & NZ.
Double headers to halve costs and double crowds.
A-League does plays over summer..
Fox not 9. Fox actually respects the game in all territories.
I'd watch it.
Lots of unexploited TV $$$.

In every year teams use players outside the top 25.. There would be risk of burnout.. seriously it is a crap idea.

The players they use outside the 25 are from the NSW and QLD cup teams.

You can't discount an idea because one player from the 20s might get selected and suffer burn out.

The supporters just like players need a break from footy as well. If we had league all year round it would lose it's appeal and crowds would drop.
