Players Heritage

We've seen a bunch of caucasian blokes with Islander heritage (i.e Regan Campbell-Gillard for Fiji), and I was wondering if there were many others in this group, particularly those who hadn't yet represented their country.

Surely there are blokes in rugby league who's heritage isn't well documented. I find it quite odd that their heritage isn't available to see, especially those who represent European countries like Italy or Greece.

On his instagram he'd upload photos of his family and a few of them are full blooded pacific islanders. Very odd.

Why? His mother is Tongan. Heritage is clearly not zero sum and there's no set way a person's going to look with mixed parents.

Are you asking about why theyre not made public?

Im assuming that RL nations have the right to request this information about eligibility - but now ive said that Im not so sure as stories still abound of players 'having a chat to someone who mentioned they know someone etc. etc'

Certainly in QLD every junior player as part of their registration is required to enter the information to qualify their representative eligibility, just not sure what happens to it after that

Sort of. I just think it's an interesting topic that isn't brought up enough. It could really help strengthen the weaker nations if players decided to go with heritage and background as opposed to where they've grown up, although I can't blame them at all for wanting to go with Australia or New Zealand.
