I noticed that quite a few players from Premier League, Jersey Flegg and Jim Beam Cup were playing in the World Cup Qualifiers on Friday.

Albert Talipeau was ex Roosters & Wakefield, now plays QLD Cup for Wynnum. Kylie Leuluai played Manly PL this year, off to Leeds next year. George Carmont is Knights FG, McConkie Tauasa is ex Rooster, plays for Central Comets this year, Eels next year. Tangi Ropati also plays QLD Cup. John Sinisa plays for Tigers PL. Willie Manu played for the relegated Castleford in the ESL. Solomon Haumono & Tyrone Smith (ex Roosters PL centre) play for London Broncos. Adam Watene plays for Wakefield in the ESL. Tere Glassie was Newtown last year, not sure about this year. George Tuakura plays Bartercard Cup.

With many firstgraders not playing - there is no doubt Tonga, Fiji and Samoa can all field strong sides in the 2008 WC.

Before the WC they will all have training camps and lead up games to really get combinations going.

These teams will give PNG and France an awful scare - and the big three better not relax against them either.

Yeh, good point

I actually wouldnt be surprised if Samoa maybe wins this federation comp they got going.

Ill definetly be backing Samoa along with my main teams (1. NZ 2. France) come WC.

RLR says that Ben Taia and Walter Veau (Wenty JB) were in the Cook Islands team and lists Taia as a try scorer. Tere Glassie has been playing in England.

For Tonga, Joel Taufao has played JB and P/L for Souths but with Auburn Warriors thsi year.

For Fiji, hamilton Hughes played last year for Newtown JB and for Group 2 premiers Port Macquarie this year. Tabua Cakacaka was previously with the Raiders but now playing in England.

For Lebanon, George Azzi is with the Sydney Bulls but missed this season after an operation. Is "Nathan" Barkat really Danny Barakat from the Bulls? Anthony Farah spent consecutive seasons with Cougars, Souths and Newtown in JB but played with Auburn Warriors this year. Ali karouche played Flegg with the Bulldogs a few years ago but more recently with Thirroul and Combined Uni's. Taouk plays JB for Newtown.

For Malta, Ben Sammut - formerly Shaks NRL now Wollongong, Daniel Spiteri - formerly Newcastle P/L now Newcastle Souths, Paul Marzella - Burleigh Bears, Paul Harris - Group 6, Bredan Russell - Mmackay Brothers, Steve Azzopardi & Steve Galea - Wenty A grade, Brad Clews - Blacktown City, Johnny Micallef - Doonside.

In the Fiji side there's former Western Suburbs and Storm player Aseri Laing and former Balmain great and I use the term very loosely James Langaloa

I heard that Bulldogs Premier League prop Jamie Small and Newtown's Jim Beam Cup hooker Matt Habojan are also likely to play for Russia.

great for Jamie but seems a bit of a step backwards - didn't Russia usually field local players in their teams?
