im pretty sure PS2 arent multi region dvd players. so no you wont be able to play it.

unless you brought the dvd from the same country as the PS2: ie if you brought the ps2 in north america, canada(region 1) then the dvd would work on it.

I've got a 3rd party region-switching package that I don't need anymore.

It's not the most reliable thing on the planet (sometimes you need to boot up a couple of times before it kicks in), but it does work.

PM me if you're interested.

buy a DVD player. I used my PS2 as a DVD player for a while and it is rubbish. It stretches the picture, has some serious problems switching between layers on some DVDs and you can't use surround sound either. You can get a decent DVD player which supports all regions for around $150 these days. Well worth it.

Had no problems playing DVD's on y PS2 with pic quality, just as good as any DVD player. However Samwise is correct, your better of buy a DVD player to play your DVD's on, save the laser on your PS2 for gaming.
They are alot cheaper than $150 though. I got a nice slimeline Grundig for $77 and it plays everything you throw at it.
