Playing Rugby League for first time, need tips

G'day guys, I had my first training session and thought I would point out the differences that I have noticed so far.
We played a game of 2 hand touch with League Rules for all of the blokes like myself who had a lack of knowledge of the rules.

The markers was a strange concept to me, it makes sense though and is something I need to get used to.
Also in Union I would always be in the ruck or maul, so when the ref is like "Back your 5" I kept getting caught in front.
The game makes me feel like I am a backman, even though I am clearly not.
The emphasis on skills was to a much higher degree and it seems like there's more tactics in a game, as opposed to pick and drive.
Playing the ball was weird, every time I got tackled I'd cover up and wait for support and then think "Oh what am I doing, I am supposed to roll it under my foot" or just completely forget to go to ground and got penalised for it.
The Tackle 0 thing was strange, why isn't it just tackle 1? (legitimate question, is there a structural reason?)

The game seems very fun, our coaches are great and explain everything in full detail as well as in simplistic fashion, yet they push us to our limit.

I will do another report after my first full game.

 well you better get out of those Union habits quick, because a quick play-the-ball is important for your team continuing the forward momentum and gaining precious metres. Thanks for the update, glad you're enjoying it!

Section 11, Law 7 (b)
Accidental breach “Zero tackle”

7. (b) Where an accidental breach occurs (i.e. knock-
on, forward pass) and possession changes hands,
the following tackle will be a zero tackle,
notwithstanding that the team gaining possession
may have gained a territorial advantage.

In normal general play, if your opponent were to commit a knock on or a forward pass, full advantage is played. As part of your advantage, you get a free tackle. If no advantage is gained, a scrum is set with the loose head and feed to the non offending team. This was brought in to give the non offending team a chance at a full set of six as a non offending receiver would usually be met very quickly by defenders.

Play the ball speed is crucial, as it gives your team momentum and allows your hooker to build a platform for the next tackle.

As a fellow prop, I recommend of course running hard, but running a (straight) line so that you are angling back behind the markers with your hitups. This also helps with getting a quick play the ball, and at the level you are playing at there will be tons of easy metres there.

The biggest challenge for you will be getting used to getting on and off the ground quickly and regularly, especially while fatigued.

Oh yeah, I can imagine how much a massive sprint would kill you, especially after all the muscle fatigue sets in from getting up off the ground so often.

Thanks for the advice gents,
I now understand the 0 tackle rule, thank you MH :)
All these tips are really helping, can anyone think of a good prop to watch in the NRL, I have Bigpond so I can watch all the replays from this year.
I have watched FuiFui, Cayless and Mannah play a fair bit, but I have never actually sat down and actively analysed what they're doing.
