Papua New Guinea's NRL team: A vision for the future of rugby league
There are considerable positives to come from taking the NRL to PNG, but are they outweighed by the hurdles?

Not sure whether it was in that interview or another but V`landys said expansion to 20 teams would see the NRL`s revenue triple, given his penchant for hyperbole that probably in real life means double, either way, looks like they`re realistically aiming for ~1.5b over the next 10 years.“The addition of PNG opens new doors for the league, but it also forces us to think about the competition's future format. These are exciting challenges to tackle as we expand the game's reach," said ARLC Chairman Peter V'landys, responding to the rumours.”
Can’t wait for those conferences to happen. Just like the good old days
Yep. He clearly says they're are going to be conferences in this quote.“The addition of PNG opens new doors for the league, but it also forces us to think about the competition's future format. I don`t think it is a pipedream at all, I`d say three KIwi sides is a cert at some stage and Melbourne will be so big by then they`ll probably welcome a second team down there as well.Once these 3 expansion teams start earning the nrl a lot of money it will only encourage further expansion
3 or 4 nz nrl sides plus Fiji may be a pipe dream but would be massive for the game of rugby league as a whole
Plus Brisbane 3 and Adelaide
Only if it’s In Geelong and not Melb cbdI don`t think it is a pipedream at all, I`d say three KIwi sides is a cert at some stage and Melbourne will be so big by then they`ll probably welcome a second team down there as well.

on their own? It needs 7 or 8 quality stadiums min!
PNG one of the bidders for the 2030 rlwc
“Alongside Kenya, South Africa and the US, New Zealand and once again PNG are the contenders to welcome rugby league nations to their shores in 2030.”on their own? It needs 7 or 8 quality stadiums min!
Maybe in conjunction with NZ and maybe Fiji? I'm sure Albo wont mind the taxpayers of Australia paying for it.
But does that mean they are bidding on their own or in partnership with someone on that list?“Alongside Kenya, South Africa and the US, New Zealand and once again PNG are the contenders to welcome rugby league nations to their shores in 2030.”
And as you say Australian govt funding would be key to it
Might help png stadium get upgraded too since the biggest capacity right now is 20k and that’s not the national stadium
NfiBut does that mean they are bidding on their own or in partnership with someone on that list?
