I'm trying to find a video of what was discussed during this panel session.
Can see Marcus Bai, Justin Olam, Darren Lockyer, Ray Dibb and one other who is facing away so can't recognise him.

“Every day the back page was a big headline about who's going to coach PNG or what player they're getting and stuff.

“Even on the track, we got to know the porters pretty well, the guys that we walked with, and just talking to them about it, they're all so excited.

“They're so rugby league mad.”

“I've never been over there before… and to see a country where rugby league's the major sport, and just their reaction to it, it's awesome.”

The PNG Chiefs franchise, expected to be based in Port Moresby, has the backing of both the PNG and Australian governments, with broadcasting rights identified as a key commercial and development component of the venture.

“There is a commercial element to this, and television coverage is a revenue mechanism for the NRL and its franchises,” Marape told NBC News. “For our team, NBC stands out as our national broadcast network, with a reach that is second to none."

“He confirmed that Digicel PNG currently holds the broadcast rights for Papua New Guinea and the Pacific region up to the end of the 2027 NRL season, and that negotiations for the 2028 to 2032 cycle have not yet commenced.

The next broadcast cycle is expected to align with the planned entry of the PNG Chiefs into the NRL competition, drawing increased local interest in how matches will be aired domestically.“

Looks like Telstra complained about the rights going to the free to air network and they argued a conflict of interest

As long as digicel pay up for it since the game is losing out on free to air coverage
