stupid ideaand we'll change the name of the game to snakes and ladders

Now you're thinking
To promote tries over attempted drop goals, any team that attempts and misses a drop goal has to play the next three sets of 6 in attack with their shorts on their heads
To dissuade players from taking penalties, defenders are allowed to hurl cans of beer at the kicker whilst he's lining up to take the kick / placing the ball on the tee. This will have the added benefit of the kicker trying to kick the ball f**king quick smart to prevent having his head caved in by a tinnie
I think we'd all agree that this year has been one of the more conservative years on the field for the NRL. There have been plenty of thrilling games, but more penalties, drop goals and penalty goals than we've seen in years.
This has led to an increase in the share of points being scored via penalties increasing significantly and also seen a few games where a penalty goal has decided a game after one side has worked their way up the other end to kick a field goal.
To me this seems like an irrational imbalance in the scoring system that unjustly punishes the side that does the work to kick a much harder drop goal.
So how about his for a points structure:
Tries: 6 points
Conversions, drop goals and penalties: 2 points
That would even the points for all kicks to an equal amount, whilst also increasing the incentive to go for tries.
Thoughts?
Can you please notWhat about 6 points for a try between the posts and 1 outside?![]()
This might make more sense. From a mathematical standpoint I think most of you are right that there is a reasonable logic to where we’re at.maybe limit the kinds of penalties that can result in a shot at goal

Maybe a point for a "sack" ie. If a defender is trapped in-goal.Nah, 1 point for kicking it dead.
I think you mean safetyMaybe a point for a "sack" ie. If a defender is trapped in-goal.
I did indeed. Silly me.I think you mean safety

Clock should only be ticking when the ball is in play. 40 seconds to restart play for shots at goal, scrums, dropouts.I wouldn’t adjust the points, but they absolutely need to address the amount of time teams take to kick penalty goals.
Every side wastes at least the full 90 seconds till the ref blows time off, then another 1-2 mins after that. It’s a horrible look for the game and makes us as boring as rugby at times:
They need an actual shot clock on kicks at goal. Meaning the team forfeits the shot and hands over possession if they don’t take it in time
How poor can you legit be?A poor mans T-Boon I thought I'd never see the day
I've always found it peculiar that a try - the object of the game - is only worth double a conversion. Or a penalty goal.
Personally I think 5pt trys makes a lot more sense. It's a more accurate reflection of their value relative to goal kicks and woud also incentivise going for a try over a penalty goal.
Remember the four tackle rule too, what year did it change to six?Still remember when tries were worth only 3 pts, they changed its worth to 4pts in 1983.
Went from unlimited tackle to 4 tackles in 1967 then to 6 tackle in 1971.Remember the four tackle rule too, what year did it change to six?
