Nah not gutless, im sure most of them would have liked to. However it is a last resort, if they had of shot him while there was a dog there the person who shot would be in heaps of shit.

When a kid dies in an altercation with police CH is more than happy to put the boot in to the kid and the kid's family, but when a dog dies he gets alll high and mighty over some pretty harmless light-heartedness from Rex (whpo has a dog's name himself anyway).
Go figure

Wow, two totally different circumstances.. Well done.. I would hold the dog higher than that kid anyway.. It is stupid to even bring it up.

The police are gutless as they should have shot the loony in the leg at least - sending in the poor defenceless dog is a disgrace.

Well said... The dogs death saved those police .................

1) They couldn't shoot him due to the acceptable Use of Force laws. The dog was there, the dog is less lethal than a gun so they had to go with the dog first. The dogs are extremely highly trained and 99 times out of 100 would go for and get the arm holding the weapon.

2) A police dog is not classed as an officer BUT this case will be prime fascie in so far as the NSW Police are seeking a charge with equivalency to murder.

3) The only charge the perp is on at the moment, as far as the dog goes, is a cruelty to animals charge

4) He is not a loony

5) <deleted entry> Can't say, might be contempt.

I heard that the bloke who stabbed the dog showed up in jail over the past day or two...and let's just say he was apparently a little worse for wear :D
