Why do the Roosters have Firman?
Cause we had to offer him a chance to play elsewhere because of the cap.
Paying Rep honours to:
Barrett
Bailey
Ryles
Timmins
Gasnier
Hornby
Might not be as many as the Chooks, but you've only got Gus to thank for that.
Honestly, it is a running joke amongst league fans how the roosters can keep so many rep players they've bought under the cap.
Listen to 2sm in the arvos to hear people's views.
We lsot a stack of players after Blacklock, Gasnier and Ryles were picked to play for Australia by Chris Anderson a few years ago.

Yet the more Roosters players get picked in Rep Games, the more they can buy.

Go Figure.

Not hard when dumb clubs like Saints are paying for them.

Read and WEEP Lemon..

Firman for sale
INJURED half-back Brett Firman looks set to be the first big-name Dragon to leave the club this year as St George Illawarra struggles to retain its long list of off-contract stars.
Illawarra Mercury 12/06/2004 Cost - $1.65 336 words

Go pay for it yourself to get the full article.. It states.. OFF CONTRACT.

If you want the link as well.

http://newsstore.f2.com.au/apps/new...year&so=relevance&sp=0&rc=10&pb=ill&kw=firman
If the little Mercury story is accurate, IF, then Saints dont look as dumb do they? But their supporters still do, because to come to the conclusion Easts are going to be over the cap or how can Easts sign Firman, you really need to KNOW who is OFF CONTRACT at Easts.

Robinson
Cross
Cusack
Lester
Dorn
Phillips
Catic

for starters.

Now see if you can put the peas in your head to motion and figure..."Are Easts going to retain all these off contract players?" Therein lies your answer. My guess is Cross will go, Cusack maybe, Lester and Dorn Goodbye. Possibly phillips. Catic or Cusack will stay but I think only 1 of them. Add to that Fittler's dollars and Id say we can pay for Firman and stay under the cap....assuming the Mercury is accurate. Otherwise, Saints can prepare their chequebooks.

The big mistake many Mongo's make is they assume Easts will retain all their players without knowing who is off contract.

Melon, Melon, Melon..

I got no doubt the Roosters will have money to spend, mostly because of Fitlers signature alone.

I said so.. there is 300k just there.. they just on Firmans signature alone still have another possibly 150k..
Im not counting who they don't sign up from their own books. They still have not Taken out Fitlers yet.. Have you signed Peacock yet ?

If you have, he would be on what.. #130,000 pounds in England Convert that to $370,000 Australian.
Imba Imba Imba.....

I know we have the money you fool!! My point, which you conveniently missed is, Firman's signature, whether we pay or not for his services, will not put us over the cap, if we lose a couple of the off contract players! Simple enough even for you to understand...surely.

Peacock is like Gidley. Didnt we sign him as well....according to Newcastle, theyve resigned the Kidley. Youll see why later today when Johns makes his announcement.

In other words, Easts have not signed Peacock. Would love to but I think he's contracted to Super League for a few more years.

Any other questions?

14 players with rep experience I believe.
Compared to the Dogs???

1. Patten
2. El Mazri
3. Tonga
4. Utai
5. Anasta
6. Sherwin
7. Ryan
8. Mason
9. Price
10. O'Meley

And thats just off the top of my head...so whats the point your making again?

That not only do you have 40% more rep players than the Bulldogs but you keep signing first graders.
Really? Lets look at that shall we?

Jason Cayless - granted
Chad Robinson - nope (reserve grade Parra)
Ned Catic - nope again (reserve grader Penrith)
Gavin Lester - oops another Bulldogs reserve grader, although he was once in first grade
Anthony Tupou - got you again
Luke Dorn - Granted
Steve Crouch - joke
Chris Walker - Granted
Heath L'Estrange - Reserve Grade/ Flegg Parra

Yep we signed some first graders. Now lets look at the Dogs.

1. Willie Tonga - Yep first Grader
2. Jamaal Lolesi - Yep again
3. Andrew Ryan - Fo Sho
4. Luke Patten - another bought one in your squad thats a first grader!! Shame Shame....

So whats your point again?

The point is that we didn't already have 15 rep players when we signed new players.

Are you saying we had 15 rep players before we signed more first graders?

Lets look at that now....this is good, I hope youre learning from this...

1. Anthony Minichiello - Wasnt a rep. Is one now
2. Todd Byrne - Nope
3. Ryan Cross - Nope. Is one now
4. Shannon Hegarty - wasnt a rep. I think he played some grade at Perth Reds. Is one now
5. Chris Walker - Granted
6. Justin Hodges - Wasnt a rep. Is one now
7. Brad Fittler - Granted
8. Brett Finch - Not a rep. Is one now
9. Peter Cusack - wasnt a rep. Is one now
10. Michael; Crocker. Wasnt a rep. is one now
11. Craig Fitzgibbon - wasnt a rep. Is one now
12. Adrian Morley - Granted
13. Craig Wing. Not a rep at Souths. Is one now
14. Ned Catic. Nope
15. Jason Cayless. Nope. Is one now
16.Chris Flannery - Nope. Is one now
17. Stuart Webb - nope.
18. Anthony Tupou - Nope. But will be next year.

I count 3 or 4 Rep players prior to joining Easts. Funnily the rest BECAME REP PLAYERS AT EASTS.

Now you said we already had 15 rep players. Where? we made them reps, but only 4 were reps when we bought them. Half of the rest made their first grade debuts at Easts.

Any thing else you would like explained for you?

Finch won't get any more money - he's midway through a contract, and there's no way he'll be playing another Origin match, ever. He isn't rep standar and thus can't demand more money.

oh now add firman to that list of players they have developed and also jamie peacock. But he'll play for $150,000, $50,000 less than morley, because he loves Australia.

Also because he'll have an apartment at coogee bought for him as well probably.

So explain how the Panthers are keeping all their premiership winning , SOO playing side??

And while your at it explain why you breached the cap last year?

Loser!

your the f**king loser.

Ryan Girdler retiring, Martin Lang retiring, Paul Whaitura probably leaving. Thats how we are keeping our team together dickhead. We are letting players go. Yet your team keep signing players.

We did not breach the cap you f**king toss. Read into it a bit more, when did it say breach the salary cap.

We had a superannuation facilty in place, taking out pay from the players wages (not extra payments like was organised for Craig Wing with souths juniors) so they can save for the future. noone really had a problem with this, it was the best idea. Rugby league is a full time job yet no super, its dumb.

Now we got penalised $250,000 for that, yet you only cop $150,000 for Craig Wing getting extra payments. Where is the justice in that?

I think you guys must be giving Mr Ian Schubert a bit of your salary cap because there is no way Morley is on $200,000 when he could be on $600,000 in England.

Finch absolutely destroyed Cronulla a few weeks back but you're right after all it was only Cronulla.

He's played rep footy in the last 12 months so he technically still current according to my rules. Ricketson was also a current. although Tallis should only be listed as (soo) not (int)

The biggest downside to the salary cap is that we pull each other apart trying to find out how the other teams get teh players they do.

I understand privacy concerns but I would like to know what all the players are on.

The only player on that list worth talking about is Cross. The rest are PL players at best. Good for nothing more than covering injuries every now and again. Phillips was great once, but what do you reckon he'd be on? And if Phillips and any of the others are on good money, what do you reckon the likes of Wing, Fitzgibbon are on?

Wait till the silly season has finished, we'll compare gains and losses then see what you have to say. It's one thing to say we lost these players, when better players are signed in their place for less money as other contracts are upgraded.
