I wonder what they told Carney to get him to say this.

CANBERRA halfback Todd Carney always dreamed of being the greatest player in the NRL - but never like this. An embarrassed Carney went into hiding last night as over-zealous Raiders fans hijacked
The Daily Telegraph's website poll seeking the greatest NRL player.
Bombarding the site several times over, the Green Brigade ensured that by 6.22pm, their No. 7 had bagged a staggering 2485 hits - or 25 per cent of total voting.

The result gave Carney more than double the votes of his nearest rivals, including Braith Anasta (11 per cent) and Sonny Bill Williams (9 per cent). "Mate, it's embarrassing and exactly the sort of publicity I don't need right now," Carney conceded shortly after being told of the ongoing results.
"One of our staff down here only just phoned me to say what's been happening. I can't really believe it, to be honest.
"Because clearly I'm not the best player in the NRL. Far from it. I was actually surprised to even be nominated in your list to begin with."
Set up for fans of every NRL club, the poll featured a group of 30 players who could rightly lay claim to being among the best in the game.
To see if Kangaroo superstar and reigning Dally M medallist John- athan Thurston had truly lost his title. And if so, to whom.
But before even calling their second smoko yesterday morning, the countless public servants who make up The Greenhouse fansite had already struck.
Showing exactly where our tax dollars go, the lime-green mob urged fellow supporters to hammer the poll like opposing sides do their tryline when playing away.
"And, look, the Raiders fans are definitely passionate," Carney continued. "But to be copping this sort of attention is something I don't need.
"I'm the first to admit my form has been scratchy this season, up some weeks then down for others. And as a team we haven't been doing too well away from home.
"To be honest, I just want to concentrate on playing the Bulldogs this weekend."
Igniting the hijacking yesterday, a Department of Something blogger named Schifcofske wrote: "There's nothing illegal about what's going on and it's all in good fun. And if the DT want to run a blatantly unscientific poll and it gets skewed by the Greenhouse, where's the harm?"
With Carney taken out of voting, results were in favour of Roosters playmaker Anasta and SBW Inc. Greg Inglis and Feleti Mateo were equal third with 5 per cent of the total.
