El Duque..We'll have to agree to disagree on Bevan..I wouldn't know who the best One Day batsmen is..but I wouldn't pick him..I think he usually plays for M.Bevan first and Team second....As far as a nothing shot goes..It's a shot that isn't a shot at all..I mean what was the batsman's purpose in this case ???

Bronco..My comments regarding Bevan and Martyn are based on my belief that we only need one "anchorman" in the Innings..It is of little value to have batsmen(or hitters)in Reserve when the Innings is over..eg.Watson.Hogg,Lee,Bichel because two batsmen occupied the crease for a long period without upping the tempo..Maybe I should have said that either Martyn or Bevan need to change their approach if both are batting together..ie..one must have a go !!

I honestly don't know why you think he plays for himself. He's saved our arses that many times it's not funny.

If his was a nothing shot then I'd say all dismissals are nothing shots.

I can't folow your logic of promoting Symonds(who has never done anything) and dropping Bevan. To me it makes absolutley no sense especially seeing Bevan is one of our best batsmen for yonks and is also one of the leading run scorers this series.

El Duque..I agree that Bevan has won games in the past and I have been an admirer(I have a bias towards left handers !!)..but he has also lost games by not going after the runs early enough..I don't know what the Stats say,but he seems to be Not Out heaps of times..To me this is an indication that he is not putting his arse on the line at crunch time..As far as Symonds goes IMHO(see this Willow..jargon !!)..he is worth a spot in the 15 just on fielding eg.today he saved at least 8 runs when he came on..He is also one of the most entertaining batsmen and a versatile bowler ..To me he is much better than Hogg and Watson..The only allrounder I would have considered equal or better is Harvey..but apparently he has had injuries recently..

To me that shows he was too hard to get out. He also comes in at #6 a lot so the chances of not outs are high.

I tend to find the only people who rate Symonds are Queenslanders. The guy is a mug.

I agree with El Duque regarding Symonds, the guy isn't up to in my opinion. He would be a great 12th man.

But I disagree regarding Bevan. I think he is a liability now. His average has dropped from the mid 60's to the mid 50's and he's playing way too slowly at the moment, putting pressure on the other batsmen. The game is evolving and he isn't.

The stats tend to back that up. But I'd still rather have Bevan than Symonds in the starting XI.

geez you blokes are hard markers ! Bevo came in with Aus in all sorts at 3-53 and he and Martyn put on 118 off 24 overs with Bevo scoring as many as Martyn.Some liability!
Last few games he,s been below his best but he is still a major contributor.Why pick on Bevo? What about Lock-My-Left-Knee-And -Hope-For-The-Best Ricky ?
How,s he going ?
As for Symonds,an allrounder who can,t bat or bowl isn,t much of an allrounder.
