No way are there 9 better players in the NRL right now.

Cleary the clear #1, and I could accept someone putting Harry Grant ahead of him. Maybe Payne Haas if he gets back to his 2023 form. No lower than 4th though.

Ponga to NZ rugby stories are starting to pop up again- must mean the season kickoff is not too far away.
Their main source for the rumour is still an old interview from 2019. He must have had at least 3 contract upgrades since then?

This time it's based on nothing more than a guy on a rugby podcast saying he 'heard a whisper'.

They're destined to keep saying it until Ponga retires.

What's everyone thinking about Ponga going into first receiver more often? I'm personally loving it. He is such a danger running the ball it opens up space and time out wide which Sharpe and Brown will take advantage of. I think it'll also extend his career as well. Let the wingers and centres do the hard yards and he can steer the ship around.

More Kalyn is more Kalyn. It's fantastic. I wish he could pass it out the back to himself.

Obi said it during the press conference last night, that KP and Sharpe share the rolls of being out the back in the backline and first receiver during attack. Means other teams can’t just be looking for KP in the same area all the time.
I know it’s early and we haven’t played against top teams yet, but I really love the ideas they seem to have come up with for our attack.
It may not always work but it gives me more confidence for this year and also that we will be able to utilise Brown in a successful way next year.

Lmao that Fox Sports article about the Roosters circling is one of the biggest loads of dribble I've ever read, they absolutely despise the fact that the Pong gives them nothing.

Nearly every club in the NRL and union is going to be circling Ponga.

Although, it is enjoyable to watch certain journalists double down on the BS after they were made to look pretty stupid in the presser last night. Just take the loss, boys.

I know that an underpowered Knights beat an underpowered Panthers last night, however the question needs to be asked that is the team more coherent, and can it be a better team without KP?

I think what last night indicated is:

- We have some great young kids coming through, and does KP’s large salary stop us from keeping them as they come through? Fletcher Hunt is going to be a really good player, but where does he fit in to the future? Where does kids like Connor Votano fit in the next few years when they are ready?

- We really lack some depth in the forwards in the second half which halts our momentum until the starters come back on. Is KP’s money better off spent on that depth rather than paying him more?

- Is KP really the playmaker that we need? Fletcher Sharpe looked great at fullback last night, the halves looked more fluid and effective than at any point over the year. Does those guys doing what KP wants them to do actually stifle them? Are they better off without him?

If he wants to go elsewhere, I tend to think we need the courage to tell him he is free to go. I know it sounds absurd for a team who could end up with the spoon to tell their best player they are free to leave, but is he our best player?
