Poor, poor NSW....

QLD were very lucky. If a few of the calls had gone our way we would have won for sure. What is with the penalties in front of the goalposts. Still it sets it up for a blockbuster game 2.

qld has a lot to think about
they cannot play any better
nsw almost won despite
a) hardly any possession
b) being knackered through all the defence as a result of no possession
c) the halfback having a barry

nsw backline was just itching to rip qld to pieces but lack of ball throughout the game starved them to death.

having said that qld deserved to win - they played solid low risk & controlled footy aided by a poor kicking game by nsw

No arguments they were the better side for 80 mins., but don't expect the Blues to perform so poorly en-masse in games 2 or 3, if you really think QLD can't play any better then they cannot win the series.

All of the boasting going on by QLd supporters about how well they played is a load of garbage. One dodgy pass in golden point is what decided that game in a period of 40 mins where NSW were all over them. If Qld want to thank anyone it should be Thurston for the shakiest looking drop goal in history, otherwise we would be talking about another series loss to QLD.

QLD can play a hell of alot better, just like NSW can. Lockyer had an ordinary game, and one thing is certain, he wont have 3 ordinary origin games this year. Tonga and Corroll will return inproving attack and defense. I love how NSW backline suddenly have more points in them, yet the likes of Lockyer, Thurston, Slater, Berrigan, Sing, Williams, and Tonga when he returns don't.

Finally! Thank you!

Sure he's one of th greats but it's nice to see that someone can admit when he has a poor game as opposed to constantly claim that the sun shines out of his arse.

I do think you could have gone about it better, your topic about Lockyer looked more like a dig than anything else.

Anyway back to Lockyer. His kicking game was brilliant, but his passing and running game were both completely off. I thought he threw a few passes that put a few players under pressure catching the ball. He didn't run as much and aswell as he normally does. But he'll know that and improve it for game 2.

NSW fans...

I make no appologies, you lost, you were beaten and quite simply your pushing s### uphill...read on.

We won the first game in:

1983 - we won 2-1
1984 - we won 2-1
1988 - we won 3-0
1989 - we won 3-0
1991 - we won 2-1
1994 - we lost 1-2
1995 - we won 3-0
1998 - we won 2-1
1999 - drew the series
2001 - we won 2-1

Please, replace Brett Kimmorley and bring back the underdone Andrew Johns who has struggled all year barring the NZ Warrior game where he found some long lost form....

State Of Origin 2005 winner: QUEENSLAND MAROONS

With the world's greatest player leading the team (Darren Lockyer), your series is done. Enjoy games 2 and 3.

Cheers

Broncodroid

You're claiming to be a Queensland supporter yet vote in a poll that was specifically for Blues supporters as stated in the thread.

Make your mind up.

When you put Paul Bowman in the centres surley your objective is not to score tries. Qld scored one very dodgy/lucky try and one from a second rower whereas NSW score 4 tries in 19 minutes. Make no mistake Qld killed us in possession and in the forwards in the first 40. But the Qld backline looked like swiss cheese the moment the NSW backs got the ball. NSW has bar far the more lethal backline and has far more points in them.

That is something we will have to agree to disagree on. NSW outside backs saw more ball than the QLD outside backs did, with most of that coming in the last 20 minutes. If the QLD backs got as much quality ball as the NSW backs did in the that 20 minutes they too could have done the same sort of damage, probably more because it would have meant Lockyer was firing.

Click here http://www.nrl.com/season/live/m744.html look at the stats, NSW backs got more ball and made far less tackles. Only 1 NSW outside back making over 10 tackles ( cooper 18 ), and Gasnier being the only other over 5 with 7. While only 2 QLD outside backs made under 10, with only 1 making under 5. In attack, only 2 QLD backs made more than 10 hitups ( 11 for Berrigan and Wliiams ), while only 1 NSW outside back made less than 10 ( 7 for Cooper ). Look at those stats they scream of NSW outside backs getting more ball and better ball. And if most came in the last 20 minutes like people are saying, then they SHOULD have won the game.

Give me a break, NSW fans would be doing the same if the result was reversed...do you want a tissue Tommy? Dry your eyes princess, there is 2 games to go and the great Andrew Johns may make an appearance.

Good on you f**knut, but somehow I don't think being outscored 4 tries to 3 (2 of which were against the run of play) isn't really the most convincing platform to be launching claims you've won the series.
Just remember who's won it the last couple years ;)

I pointed out that from 1-0 up, history shows we are a damn fine chance of going on to claim the shield. QLD were great for 60-65 minutes last night and full credit to NSW for getting back into the game, though we as a team can improve (Lockyer will improve on that showing) alot for mine.

It is all against NSW who need to win 2 games with one more to come at home...

Enjoy.

Is that against forum rules Diablo? I have an opinion on who should be the NSW half, I voted as a QLD fan ignoring the instruction "FOR BLUES FANS"...geez, what is this forum coming too.

LeagueUnlimited headline "A rugby league fan who supports the maroons ignores a members instruction and votes in a NSW FAN ONLY poll"...

Sure you did.

There are plenty of threads you could of expressed this so called opinion in yet you chose the ONLY one asking for the opinion of BLUES supporters.

Sorest loses in history? Dont see NSW people running around saying Golden Point should be scrapped just cos we lost in it do you?
Queensland were lucky to win. Thougt i was watching the Union the amount of penalties they were taking. if Thuston wasnt lying down that woulda been one less penalty, the Buderus penalty didnt look like a penalty and we still scored 4 tries to 1 despite kimoorley n making close to 100 more tackles in the first half. You guys are gone in origin 2.

Totally disagree Kiwi. Those stats show that NSW kept going to their backs in the 2nd half once we had the ball because they were carving up. And Qld didn't go to their backs because they were not making an impact. Queensland had 54% of possesion last night and Lockyer chose not to spread it wide but hit up the middle. If I looked up at the outside backs and I saw Paul Bowman I would give inside to Crocker too.

Everytime NSW had some decent possesion, which all came in the last 30mins we would spread it wide because QLD are weak on the edges.

Holy crap,10 of your points were from 2 penalty goals and a try scored off a 20 metre knock on and you guys are crowing!

No wonder so many QLDer's run off to play Union.
