So Magnay is saying these women are 20 x immoral and deserve no respect from men.....and since they represent all woman, the sledgehammer of the culture of woman has been exposed......hmmm okay ta.

When a journalist goes out on a limb with allegations, it is up to them to prove it.

Magnay it seems is struggling to do that, with all parties strongly denying the allegations and so far not an ounce of proof like a quote from a named person.

Putting things in inverted commas does not make the information infallible.

I didn't say that the original report was infallible. I specifically said that Magnay may have been too quick to take the word of whoever told her about the prostitutes. That's not to say that source was wrong, though. The sex trade is a grubby industry and there could be any number of reasons Ange would angrily deny being "a flesh peddler".

It is clear that Magnay researched the article, though. She refers to sources with respect to every claim. It includes quotes. She gave Zappia a right of reply even though he would only offer her a text message response.

The fact that Zappia and Ange have come out and said "nuh-uh" really doesn't count for much. Standard operating procedure for organisations involved in scandals is to deny everything that isn't able to be proven conclusively.

Can I ask the question, if someone handed out sex toys, what is the problem. It would be different if there was a couple of chicks come into change, lay down and the boys pick their fave toy and go to town. That is not the case though, they alledgedly just got handed out. i'm not sure what her angle was really unless she's trying to show cronulla is run poorly. a lot of these things on their own are pretty minimal and dont necessarily indicate a larger problem

Just watched the interview too. If the rest of her story is based on inuendoes and let the public think of it what they will then she has no credibility at all. But I guess we'll have to wait and see. At this point though she has built none. What the f**k is wrong with getting a payout when you're injured at work? Isn't that what millions of people do every year..??

Well isn't that a coincedence two seperate media oraginsations putting together stories on so called immoral practices at the sharks.

Carcharias, you are the one claiming she has an agenda, I don't know what you think it is.

Why didn't she wait for proof? What standard of proof would satisfy you? Sometimes, for any number of reasons, sources ask to remain anonymous. Sometimes there are legal reasons that certain facts are not publishable, perhaps for instance, to do with signed confidentiality agreements. Stories like this are published every day and I would bet my bottom dollar that these claims are not fabricated by Magnay. If they are mistaken and she didn't adequately check the veracity of what she was told then I'll agree with you that this is sloppy journalism, but I'm not going to agree with you just because Zappia denied the allegations in the face of an incredibly meek interview on the NRL's flagship publicity program. Vossy didn't ask a single follow up question ffs.

Magnay reported on information she claims to have been gathering for months about the culture at the Sharks. She pursued Zappia for comment in the course of her investigation and he refused, except for a text message sent to her on Wednesday night that she reported. She claims there is more on this story to come.

To me, all the indications suggest that Magnay is confident in her story.

It's not possible that 4 Corners and Jacqueline Magnay could have had concurrent but separate investigations into the Sharks? Or that, because Magnay is involved in the media, she could have found out about the Matty Johns story and decided to have a look into it herself?
