I think now they allocate one new immortal every 4 years? Billy Smith yes, should also be considered. I once stayed at Koro Navoci, next koro from Namotomoto many years ago. Met a couple of Fijian blokes at the "Fijiana" night club back in those days.

Awesome to see LPT finally have a huge game on the weekend . Was definitely not playing to expectations so far . Lets hope he can keep it up and knock one of the plodders out of the firsts side .

What about that self declared immortal Choc Mundine?

Positives? Let's see...
* Any side on a given day, will beat any of the top echelon sides.
* The speed of the game at this time, has imo anyway reached its maximum. In fact again imo, the current speed of the game, maybe responsible for the number of season ending injuries over the last few years. I thoroughly enjoy a physically hard, dour, low scoring game, with bone crushing defence, as much as any high scoring game with flashy tries..
* As one who has been critical of the competence of the referee and bunker, I hope the rest of the season can proceed without controversy.
* The next immortal should be View attachment 110731
Over 16 seasons, Fittler played 337 games between the Panthers and the Roosters, won a premiership at both clubs, collected a Golden Boot, and was named Dally M Centre, Lock, and Five-Eighth of the Year.
He featured in 31 State of Origins for New South Wales and 38 Tests for Australia, of which 25 he skippered.
I really think Fittler was a great footballer and should be recognized at some point but for mine, the next Immortal should be Ken Irvine.

His record at all levels is sublime and his club record took > 50 years to be beaten.

😄

It is Billy Smith for me. He should already be one.

Loved Billy as a player and even had morning tea with him in our kitchen when I was growing up and as much as I am a one eyed Saints man I still give it to Irvine.

Billy had the great honour to play with a club when it was at its very very best meanwhile Irvine played all of his early career with a perennial losing side and all the while remained loyal to them so qudos to Mongo.

Their club games are almost identical in number and there is only a small number the difference at rep level but Irvine's scoring ability was just incredible and God only knows what it would have been if he had of been on the end of our backline or the new corner post rules had applied back then.

I once hoped that they would be both inducted in my lifetime but I suspect the 1 : 4 year rule and the idiots selecting them will prevent me from seeing either of them included.

Thank my lucky stars that Sticks finally got the honour that had eluded him for so long.

Can't argue with Irvine being considered that's for sure. Freddy has plenty of time.

The era of the mid 50's to mid 60's was a notable high water mark in RL with the Dragons 11 premierships in a row, which will never be beaten imo. Billy Smith yes, great! but what about that stonewall Poppa Clay! Puff and Changa and Kingy and Lummy and Graham, backed up by a formidable pack led by Kearney, Walsh, Provan, Chook Raper and Beath, among others.

Stories of Billy’s off field may be an issue

Allianz and commbank would be ok. Been once to each sat behind the sticks it was ok

But yeh Accor even the good seats are average

Last year went to souths dogs behind the posts in the corner and right up the.back and still watched most of the game on the screen

Accor is such a punish now for club games except dogs whose big crowds give it some atmosphere

Souths will be back at Allianz in 2029 that will be a game changer imo

Accor was great for saving souths but now it’s a burden for the club

The off field stuff is why he has been ignored as far as being recognised for things like the Immortals

Yes, I think so and Allan Langer possibly as well.

But they busted the sound barrier in getting A Johns inducted, so what do I know?

Sorry guys, but I'm going take this positives only thread in a completely different direction.

Some posters often mention taking their grandsons to the games. It’s one of those things that I’d often thought would be an awesome experience for both - a real opportunity to bond. I personally have been blessed (or cursed – depending on how you look at it) by 2 daughters. But my eldest not long ago provided me a second grandson.

Now my first grandson is a stocky little fella with a bit of a mischievous nature. He’s far too young now, but I have high hopes he may end up playing league. Whether he does or not, I’m really looking forward to taking him to watch the Dragons play when he gets a bit older. Those posts by OT and others have really given me something to look forward to – irrespective of how the Dragons are performing now or what the future holds. Makes you realise that there's other joys that league can provide.
