Besides the fact that Hayne has been NSW's just about our man of the series every year he has played regardless of his club form, what form does Morris have exactly?

Hayne should be first picked. He is our X factor player who can turn a game on his own.

Agree, hayne should always be first picked for nsw, he's THE player nsw have that is qld good. He'd waltz onto the maroons, can't say the same for any other blue besides gallen.

Going from today...Bird, B Morris, Lewis, Watmough and Gallen, but not Hayne. Behind Slater and Inglis. You do know QLD helps select the side.

Yeah no Hayne for QLD unless it would be off the bench. Tate outplayed him last year and Boyd owes his soul to Inglis at rep level.

Gidley, Lewis, Thaiday and Boyd are not among the best 17 players going around atm.

Disgraceful selections with the possible exception of Thaiday.

Kurt Gidley is the worst though. Some players simply have to walk on the field and they're considered a shoe-in.

Matt Gidley would have been a better option.

He's only picked because he can play in so many positions. The whole backline and hooker.
Is there anyone else? I dunno

You could play Hayne to cover outside backs and Bird covers the halves and hooker with a player switch.

Really with Bird and Lewis in there a dedicated utility is over kill.

NZs only chance, C Smith goes down in the first 5 minutes, Austalia gets Gidley.

skeepe is on the money, The Gidley love is not a natural thing, reminds me of random Manly prop for NSW. WTF?

Its happened before and Gidley probably had his best game in a Roos jersey. Had a fantastic game.

In saying that though, its now 2013 and there are more deserving players who shoud have been picked ahead of him

The selectors will never learn. Every time the Aussies get dusted in an important game, the next game they play is the one off against NZ which is heavily stacked in Aus favour.
By the time the big games are played, the contentious selections get forgetten because they won their last game by 20.

Yes, he can have Boyds spot.

How so?

By sheer weight of numbers Aussies will have greater depth.
The Kiwis always have a greater percentage of available/test standard players in the ESL.
History also shows that the Kiwis have much better record in series as opposed to one offs.

Bullshit. The Kiwi sides in tours and WCs rarely have more than 1 current ESL player in the side

Your other 2 points have nothing to do with things being stacked in Australias favour. They are just short comings of the NZers.

I was just as surprised at Boyd being in the team as Gidley. He has been playing sh*t for quite some time now, to be picked in front of Hayne is just mind boggling. Some of the other picks are highly questionable but those are the 2 who really stuck out to me.

Won't matter as the NZ team doesn't look that great and will probably be shown up easily anyway. Hopefully things look a bit more even come WC time (I won't get my hopes up that SBW plays).
