Possible Solutions to Problems

Robson is a warrior, dude made like 30 tackles at half.

Matt Keating is woeful ! like how slow can one deliver the ball to someone. Like he passes and the defence are already up and putting pressure on.

My halves would be
6. Jeff Robson
7.Mortimer

and
9. Kris Keating

Only problem then is that you have issues with to many small dudes in the defensive line.

Hey, I really admire Robson's courage in defence too ... but making 30 tackles isn't the main contribution you're hoping from your halfback.

I see 2 main problems.

1. Lack of intensity/attitude at the start of games, Parra start the games like they've played a full half already. In the 1st minute of a game they are already just going through the motions while the opposition is charging up and putting hits on. It really looks like they don't care and are stuck on constant cruise control until the inevitable last 20min rush to catch up.

2. The halves have been useless, they are playing behind a beaten pack but they still could do better. They offer the team no direction at all, a weak kicking game and are usually bad with the last tackle options.

Stick Benji behind our pack at the moment and he'd struggle too.
Sorry, but forward momentum and quick play the balls are prerequisites for successful halves combinations.

One thing halves can do even behind a beaten pack is support the ball carrier instead of setting up for the next play. That's what ours should be doing.

That's what the whole team should be doing.

Yeah, I'd be happy with that.

Mateo just is looking so tired/unfit before he comes off after 30mins. let him be an impact bench player to throw in when we're behind (most weeks) and need some flair. Poore can stay on the bench until he gets his fitness improved as well.

Robson could do what he does wearing the 13. We do need him out there, for defence and to take the heat off kids like Morts and KK who aren't quite ready to handle the responsibility alone.

We also miss Burt like crazy, he's responsible for talking through a lot of the attacking structure (especially signalling options to Mortimer), has a great footy brain. No coincidence imo that Morts was pulled given Burt wouldn't be out there to guide him on that side.

Huh?

You saying Morts was pulled because Burt didnt play?

Ok then :sarcasm:

It's the internet, it's built for conspiracy theories ;-).

But in watching how often Burt has been signalling to Mortimer this year which attacking option to choose, I've got a theory that Mortimer would have been shown up big time if he' had played, without Burt's brain to guide him.

And I doubt he will even start until Burt is back in the side. But as always, I'm happy to be surprised by what eventuates...

Morts will develop, at least we all hope that he will, but he's simply not able to learn his trade off an established half while at our club.

We have a lot of talented individual players in the team with their occasional touches of sheer magic, but not a lot (if any) that can see structure and flow and read a game and what is needed. Burt can, and has at the very least seems to have been reminding Morts what options from training to use in attack, look out for it in a few weeks time when you view them in action together at the ground.

I see what you mean Fishy. :sarcasm:

TBH, I'm lost for words.
If it wasn't Bart saying this, I'd suggest this get put into the swamp.
Maybe someone has hijacked his account. :sarcasm:

Bartman sometimes I wonder if you're a joke account. Some of the comments you make are simply outrageous and I struggle to think you could actually believe them. Some of your past insightful commentary includes letting Fui go to England, Hayne not being deserving of the Eels fullback spot, moving Hayne back to five eighth and Mateo being a bad player who won't improve (to name a few). I can't think of anyone who is so consistent at being so off the mark. Are you a genius troll or do you actually believe this?

Burt doesn't strike me as a puppet master...a leader yes, but not a puppet master
