Cronulla is finally free of the disruptions of CA

Last year, all the papers were talking about was "Cronulla this and CA that..."

This year, we hardly rate a 5 line paragraph in the papers.... PERFECT!!

Hopefully we will sneak up on everyone this year, and shock a few! 8)

I dont get it

I thought players only played for Cronulla because Chris Anderson was the coach

Could the papers be wrong for the first time ever???????

Can't we just move on, I mean you even say it yourself, we hardly rate a paragraph or 5 in the paper yet you still see the need to bring it up. Get over it, even the guys who supported him have moved on. Why can't you?

I was thinking the same thing, Mac. Except for the court case, the CA days are dead and buried. Dunno why some keep on resurrecting the subject?

This week? This week is almost over though. :?

Probably one of the most disappointing things from the Anderson era was how, as Australia coach, Anderson was supposed lure some top players to the club. Apart from Kimmorley, who would play under Anderson anywhere, we got treated to the likes of Anderson's woeful son, Don Tweddle, Nick Youngquest and others, and saw our playing depth become unbelievably weak for season 2003. :( Anyway, thankfully that is now all buried in the past. :)

I was thinking about that the other day Sully, and I reckon it was all part of his "master plan".

He tried to win it with pretty much the same bunch of guys in 2002 and failed. We all heard the comments about "losing culture" etc, well maybe that was his way of getting us to change:- install a TOTAL losing culture for one season and make the guys realise just how much it hurts to lose week in, week out. Forget about being contented making the semis, we're not even going to come close.

Then recruit well for the next year and start again, hopefully with the remainder of guys determined not to get flogged every week.

Who knows? Interesting concept though.

For a start Youngquest was a local junior, you can hardly blame Anderson for that.

Secondly you conveniently forgot Bailey, Nutley, Franze and Johns as good players, with Bird and Reick as average.

Then recruited for this year, with Ando still in charge 2 Internationals in Vagana and Lomu, a kid with a hell of a lot of wraps in Merritt and a former Australian schoolboy in Russo.

Anderson picked in him in First Grade.

Didn't Vagana say he had hardly spoken to Anderson when he signed up? :? I'm not sure how much input Anderson had for this year's signings.

Vagana said he'd never spoken to Chris Anderson. All the negotiations were done via Steve Rogers.

I think the crux of his signing was the fact that we could give him a start in architecture after footy. Somehow, I think playing under the then-Aussie coach would sort of be irrelevant to Vagana's rep chances...

I don't know if Anderson being here had any influece at all, I know Raper didn't though.

Anderson picked in him in First Grade.

And many people on here were saying it was the right thing and he'd earnt it.

The point is Ando has gone. It's done. Get over it. But if you can't then at least try and be a bit accurate.
