Potential replacements at 5/8

From an outsider looking in, Parramatta have a great squad. However, one glaring problem is their deficiency at five-eighth. Chris Sandow is in strong form this year, but he needs a paragon of stability partnering him in the halves. Corey Norman is not the answer. Jarryd Hayne cannot be moved to five-eighth. There are a few out of the box possibilities I believe could play five eighth.

Tepai Moerea

Tepai played in the centres for the Australian Schoolboy Rugby Union team. Here he exhibited his great ball playing ability that would make him an asset at five-eighth. This is worth a try.

Pauli Pauli

Currently, their are several powerful five-eighths such as John Sutton & Maurice Blair. Perhaps Pauli could adopt a similar game plan, and Sandow's diminutive play could be contrasted with Pauli's power game in the halves. Food for thought for Arthur.

Ken Edwards

Edwards is also a great ball playing forward. He is another possibility in this position, as his offloading ability would make him a Feleti Mateo-like player from the halves.

Of course, these are out of left-field options, probably only viable if the season gets away from Parra. Let me know what you think.

Norman is our left side five-eighth and Sandow is our right side five-eighth. Yusuf Paulo is our halfback.

But when Paulo goes off for a rest, Norman and Sandow become a more conventional left and right side halfback pairing. This is why Arthur's wants Paulo playing 80 minutes.

F**k me. When we had Hayne, Hoppa, Peats, Ma'u, Mannah, Edwards and the forwards were bending the line Norman was the chief playmaker and was one of the buys of the season (sterlo said that when he was also wrapping Peats).

We lose 3 in a row (because the forwards are being dominated) and it's the 5/8th's fault.

We should also remember that you need a kicking option on either side of the field. Hayne can kick but he's such a great chaser that he's better off not kicking. This is why you can't just stick a forward in the 6 or 7 jerseys, no matter how good his passing ability.

Scapegoat my arse. He can't tackle, has a shithouse kicking game and couldn't get a repeat set by forcing a drop goal to save his life. He only looks good when he passes the ball to Hayne who sets up all of our tries.

Sandow is exactly the same but is just a tad quicker, has a better long range kicking game but is more selfish and slightly dumber.

That is not true and you know it. He was poor defensively on Saturday - I agree. But his defence before that has been outstanding. How many games have you watched.

In terms of passing - his long, long pass to Semi in the Melbourne match was as good a pass I have seen.

Maybe he was let down on the weekend because he didn't have Edwards next to him, however when besides that pass to Semi has he taken on the line and set up a try as he is supposed to do? I've watched every game and can say that in the majority of them his kicking game has been diabolical.

Norman is still young, may improve but at this stage is highly overrated.

And the quick hands that put Kenny Edwards into the gap at Suncorp against the broncs was pure class

Why are you so negative all the time Avenger?

I'm not negative all the time. I just can't cop getting smashed 4 times this year and having the worst defence in the NRL for over 3 seasons. Someone has to be accountable. Usually it's the coach but we have faith in this one so it must be the players, shouldn't it?

I'm simply identifying our senior and most highly paid players as being accountable. Sandow and Norman for example. I don't cop this forwards going forward all the time shit and experts like Sterling agree with me. If a halfback or 5/8th can get you into great field position by kicking effectively and getting repeat sets you would be surprised how your forwards respond, get less fatigued and have less chance of being dominated.

Momentum changes in an instance.

After we beat Souths and Norman has a blinder, we will have a thread about Norman playing Origin next year.
Then next time we lose, a thread about him being a waste of space.

Every player has a few off games each year. Just deal with it and move on.

Really only the tigers / knight games could I blame our halves for our loss, as they didn't do enough to control the game.

But in our other losses, especially against the roosters, storm, warriors and Penrith our forwards were soft and our defence shit!!! Not really games that our halves could be blamed for.

I'm sorry but I can't remember the last time you posted something positive about the team.

We were missing a lot of playing talent on the weekend, I don't think is time to be as negative as we can yet.
