He still is a houso! He just has more $$$ thanks to his scummy behaviour. He'll never be anything but scum!

Wow. You need jesus... Openly exhibiting the fake virtuosity of a lefty. Disgusting. I remember when they used to actually care about the downtrodden. I feel sorry for you.

A person's atheism/religiousity and their political persuasion (right/left) aren't usually related in any way, imo.

You're both struggling big time!

Never said they were related, was just an observation.

The relation that is undeniable is political persuasion and being in government.

Right and left are both a pack of morons tbh....but conservatives do tend to be more likely to be religious IMO, and the far left are much more likely to be Atheists.

Not sorry for hijacking the thread, it's shit anyway :p

Bazal sitting on the fence, colour me surprised ¿¿¿¿

I agree in general with the assessment, I also propose that moderates have to pick a side based on how events sit with them at the time and are forced to lean a certain way based on what suits them.

I'm not sitting on the fence. I just think that supporting an ideology like a footy team is pathetic

Yeah, fair point - and at least there is something to discuss in this thread now.

I wasn't really referring to the far left in my post, just the non-far (soft?) left... which I find can be evenly split between the progressive religious and the agnostic end of the atheist spectrum.

It seems like Swifty and the alt/troll are actually agreeing with each other's underlying premise, while (pretending) to disagree...

I agree but disagree in that the right don't have group think on different issues, where as the left is totalitarian on holding the line of their ideology be it identity politics or feminism. No criticism or debate allowed or you are a problematic ____ist/phobic hitler reincarnation. Supporting and fighting for what you believe in is not the same as mindlessly regurgitating support based on the red and blue colour of the shirt.

Hmmm, codswallop.

There's just as much factionalism and totalitarianism in the conservative side of politics as there is in the progressive side.

You can't critique identity politics as a leftist but you can debate abortion and gay marriage on the right and people do have different views be it socially or economically (these things are not debatable on the left). True story.

Huh?

Have you tried to "critique identity politics" as a "leftist", and had a bad experience...

I just observe them eating dissenters alive and laugh at the delicious irony of their bigotry. I am pretty sensible on most issues but what is sensible changed over time.

So where exactly do we go to watch this phenomenon? And is the conservative side of politics with its broad church of dissenting opinion somehow free of observable irony?

In reality, something a lot of people here clearly do not dwell in. Go pose as a dissenter in a lecture at your local uni or use google for I am not paid to be your life coach.
