Pressure remains- will it be Sheens vs Humphreys?

Well, following the board meeting and the ‘safe for now’ statement by Humphreys concerning Sheens at the club I stand by my original premise that the pressure is building. This meeting has not stopped it and provided, at best, a small breather for all involved.
My gut feeling is that tonights interview comments on the NRL Footy Show by Ryan and Marshall exposed dysfunction at the head of WestsTigers. Either Humphreys or Sheens were not being fair in their dealings with the Ryan by leaving verbal agreement to new contracts uncompleted and up in the air for such an extended time. There must now be tension between the 2 and the board have to ask searching questions of both to resolve what went on. Our recruitment and retention policy is in tatters and subject to rightful ridicule – this has to be sorted and someone has to fall on their sword. I hope McDonnell is not made the sacrificial lamb in this instance as this goes higher up in the chain of responsibility and rests at either Sheens or Humphreys door.
Maybe the ‘safe for now’ statement is a face saving measure to allow Sheens to look elsewhere, whilst participating in the review of 2012 and able to say he has not been sacked, hence bettering his negotiating position? I think if Sheens stays, Humphreys will have to go. The situation is not resolved and with more bits of information coming out tonight the pressure continues to increase. Explanations are needed and the club can no longer allow this to fester into preparations for the new season.

Edit- you just cant treat your players like that. Its not right and the bad taste quickly spreads to others. Mistrust will abound now. I've heard that Sheens has now lost the playing group. Tonights information only confirms somethign is very, very wrong at WestsTigers at present.

I think Humph needs to go in order to have Sheens sacked.
It's self preservation for all involved.

Get a new ceo, punt the coach and anyone in his clique and only then will we be truly free.

Hmmm makes sense MF. Or perhaps the board are awaiting to look at future coaching options before making a call ?

Heard that Matt Parish is the man being asked to take the reins. Maybe he is hesitating and wants the review done before he commits as he wants commitments from WestsTigers..........

WestsTigers statement

Please find a written copy of Wests Tigers CEO Stephen Humphrey’s statement issued at Concord on Thursday night.
"As happens at the conclusion of every season the Wests Tigers Board has been undertaking a review into our 2012 season. This review encompasses all areas of our business including the football department.
At Wests Tigers we are a results driven organisation which is an expectation of success in all areas of our business. Nobody at any part of our Club is satisfied with our 2012 performances and we are all committed to doing everything we can to ensure improved results.
Over the course of the last week there has been considerable public comment over issues of player retention and recruitment as well as speculation regarding the future of our Head Coach.
As you would expect we will complete our review process and agree our future plans in a prompt but orderly fashion to ensure the best possible outcomes for our Club.
It would be inappropriate for us to make any further comment about this process or any other issues at this time."

lol...the club doesn't seem to have a problem off loading players that are still under contract yet struggles to sack the coach. There is division in the club and i am betting the board are hoping Sheens lands a gig else where, cancelling out his pay out.

Parish wasn't much of a player. He didnt excite me then and I don't feel much excitement about him taking over. I'd prefer Danial Anderson.

For sure. Warren Ryan, Wayne Bennett, Jack Gibson were all average players. I could be wrong but Parish doesn't strike me as anything like them. He wasn't an intelligent player. What i mean by that was he wasn't particularly smart with the ball. From what I remember he was a hog with no particular outstanding qualities. What do you think macnaz about his playing days? Does anyone know much about him as a coach?

Matt Parish was an olden day John Morris
I remember Junior Pearce's last game at Leichhardt
Freeman was out so wok put Matt Parish in the 7
He murdered as many overlaps that afternoon as Morris did in 3 season

Could be that the Board are hoping that the Warriors make a play for Sheens in the next week or so and save them some of the payout cash

Heard Andrew Moore on 2GB today say that it is not over and his information is that Sheens will be gone shortly with Parish being the 1 to replace him.

Parish has a get out clause in his new assistant to Stuart role at Parramatta, if he was offered a 1st grade head coach position.

I'm sure thats what the board are hoping. They must be despondent that the expansion bid for 2 new clubs has been put on hold for a year or so. No vacancy signs there either. God I hope we can get rid of Sheens- he will have to be blasted out, but the pressure is on. Lets keep it on. The accountability of coach, CEO and board is all entangled and these people are started to get fidgety and worried for their own jobs. As an aside, I think Humphreys may end up on very shakey ground once this saga plays out.

Matt's dad Don was a great fullback for the Maggies and Oz in the sixties, he played in the 63 GF when Wests were robbed by some lousy ref decisions', sounds like now, hopefully some of Don's flair rubbed off on Matt, something has to be done about the current Wests situation, no good for players' and us, what a dreadful year this year - Dealer.

Sheens will be gone after the clean out happens and likely Warriors contract offered. The new coach would already be advising of players to be retained/offloaded if its as concrete as everyone is saying. Simply laying the blame with Sheens before he walks away and new coach comes in clean. Also they seem to be breaking up cliques within the team at the same time.

Parish sounds like a step backwards to me (FG Coaching Experience?) Understudy to who? I don't see this making sense and is a disaster waiting to happen following a 10 Year, 5x Premieship Winning coach. They need to move Sheens on but I agree with Marshall (Who's the Replacement?)

The only candidates that make any sense are; D Anderson, Rick Stone, Steve Folkes.
I would be happy with D Anderson personally has the runs on the board

You are right about Parish as a player, he was a hog and an average player but had one of the games best mullets lol.
As far as his coaching goes, he has only had sole control of a team in the UK which lasted about 6 weeks because he quit due to a rumoured fall out with the board so i dont know if thats a good sign. He has worked closely with Stewart and Toovey which im sure would have taught him a lot. I dont know tho if id risk him as head coach tho at this stage, more an assistant. Hmmm i dont have a strong arguement for him when i think about it lol i just feel he could bring some new mixed ideas.
