It was a trial match you douche bag.
For one, we were up against a full strength Dragons side with an 18 man bench, meaning in the second half of the match, they had a 100% fresh team including a few FG players.
The Bulldogs where missing Sonny Bill Williams, Reni Maitua, Willie Tonga, Daryl Millard, Chris Armit, Nick Kouparitsas, Brad Morrin, Leon Bott and Luke Thompson from the side. Most of the Dragons tries were scored down Matt Utai and Cameron Phelp's side and both of them have horrible defence. As soon as Heka Nanai and Tim Winitana came on, the Dragons attack was put on hold and they played well.
We threw out many many different combinations on the night and for a side as depleted as us to score 30 points was a bonus. Not to mention the great reviews from a certain ex-Roosters who came to us when Mason went there. Danny Williams was said to be the best player on the park for the Bulldogs which is very promising. We have guys like Groom, Tsoulos and Sullivan who all played their first games for us and even though they got minimal time, they impressed.
This year will be a re-building year for Canterbury no doubt. But we will still place in the top 8 and I strongly believe that. In 2009 we will be explosive so long as we can put the free $900,000 to good use with some key signings.
