Price - smart thinker

anyone catch Brett Morris's speech after getting MOM? How he let slip Pricey told him he was playing full back on MONDAY! So , it was a bit of clever spin from Price - Cooper and Scott were NEVER going to play last night. What a coo - Morris just loved it - and didn't it show !

As for the game - yes, ATTITUDE was the big difference, but I also have to say that Price whom might of 'binned the tape' from the Canterbury game, certainly watched the Tiger's tapes. His game plan was spot on. Our forwards ran hard and straight and I don't remember seeing the Dragons use so many outside/inside balls up the middle for a long time. The tigers had no answer. Further, get in the face of Mr and Mrs Moltzen and they crack.

Price has copped a lot of criticism around here for some of his choices but there were some great signs last night. The team was motivated and some key positional changes worked great.

I keep reminding myself every coach has to start somewhere, Bennett is one of the greatest of all time but it still took him 5 years to win a comp when he had half the qld team in his side. Based on that, it's unfair to expect instant results with Price, but I think he showed he can get the team going when the pressure is on. Let's hope that continues

I also believe that there was no intention to play Scott from the get go.

Let Sheens choke in his own player tactic.

The Tigers possibly built there whole game on hitting at Scott and were shell shocked when things changed.

Go you boys..

Price made a very good decision with morris. Deserves much credit.
I didn't think hea had the proactive balls or experience to do it.

Well done.

Can't argue with the result.

I have no doubt they would have planned to attack down our right side with Lawrence and co. and bomb Style at the back. Some very clever positional changes.
I think Wayne would have shifted Prior to the centres or if he did move Style would have put Flo at the back(which still would have been good).
Style and Greene were terrific in defence last night. For two very inexperienced players they made some great decisions.

Well done Price!!!!!!

Gotta give Steve Price massive congrats on this win, his positional changes and tactical changes showed weve got the right man in the boss hat

as a rookie coach to react as he did so swiftly to the hammering Canterbury gave us shows a lot of ticker under that Dragons crest on his shirt the way he did shifting Brett to the back, putting Style back in the centres, bringing in Vidot, benching Latimore to start Danny Hunt - and keeping the Hunt inclusion quiet - shows a pretty shrewd coach willing to make subtle changes and backing his judgement and you cant ask for more than that

as was written elsewhere Bennett woulda just pushed Prior out to the centres to cover for Scott and Coops but Pricey had faith in Brett Morris, not noted for his catchability as commentators were even saying after getting the team sheets and that will only give Morris confidence aplenty

great coaching from Pricey, he has won me over 4LIFE !! for what its worth :)

i heard young on the bsb during the week & he did say that during the off season the choice of fullback in order was style, moz & flo & it looks like he is smart enough after two rounds to realise he needs to change it.as well as keeping hunts return very quiet it does look like he is a smart cookie

Very good tactics. Excellent execution. I think sometimes people forget that he was Bennett's annointed successor and he has been in the program for a decade. He knows his onions.

Yes and unlike Browny, to whom he was being unfavorably compared this week Price has been a coach for the club for 10 years prior to getting the top job. Brown had what, 2 years coaching Flegg?

Ditto I did not think Price had the stones to make changes the early on. But he did.

I'm hoping Morris stays back there. Just the way he ran back the ball had me fired up straight away. The man has serious horse power. Vidot stretched the defence with his hard running too. Having said that the Tigers played fairly poor.

Believe it or not, Price is considering moving Morris back to the wing according to nrl.com

Hope he doesn't.

I would thought this means he was a dud of a coach given the way Bennett has supposedly been trying to dismantle us a club :)

The key for Price is for the boys to back it up this week, especially as we are playing Manly. If we go through the season WLWLWLW it will be very disappointing for all concerned. The team can only play to their strenghts & cover their weeknesses. Shoudl be a cracker on Saturday night.

With our draw the first few weeks, it was always going to be a tough task to go 2 wins, 1 loss. Pricey has come up against:

Wayne
Des
Sheens

All 3 have won comps, they know how to win a comp, they know tactics, mind games, getting the best out of their players etc.

I think Pricey has done well. His tactics were good on Friday, his positional choices worked, so we can only build form there.
