The salary cap??????????

So poor recruitment, inept coaching, and misguided player retention, has absolutely nothing to do with our current dilemma????

Hmmmm, think you could be Board material there gypsy!!

I don't understand two things:
1. Why did they announce the re-signing half way through the first half?
2. Why couldn't they wait until round 10 to decide? What happens if we are 3 WINS and 7 LOSSES after round 10?

It all goes in cycles.
The Roosters are on the up having rebuilt and thats what we will be doing now.
We will be back but will take time.We are in the same position the Roosters were in the last 2-3 years.
The Roosters would have beaten any other side today with the way they played and the favourable calls they were getting from the refs.
Go the Saints!

Look guys, give Price a go, who knows he may be a useless coach, but this year he has no cattle. With the exception of Flo & BMoz he has a f**ked backline. He has a 33 year old hooker come halfback, a 5/8 who makes Jeckyll & Hyde look normal, one old center another who couldn't run out of sight on a dark night and a winger playing defensively terrible at fullback. His only major off season buy is gone for the season. Yep he has a good forward pack, but at the end of the day you need to be able to threaten the line.

Yeah I was really bummed with the decision to extend his contract, but anyway its done, all we can do is look at fixing up the personnel now, and hopefully Widdop will have the ability to adapt on the field instead of just repeating the same moves over and over.

The Roosters line-up is a complete joke, I dont know how they put that team together, if its back-ended or whatever.. dead set gee-up, but the position we are in is because Dragons recruitment has been ignored for 3 straight years.. its now going to take another couple to build out of.. the hard way.

Price's retention was always on the cards. 2013 seems to be on the same mediocre path as 2012 and 2014 could well just be more of the same even with the recruitment of Thompson & Whiddop. Could it be a case of the club settling for what they have (In Price) to create a sense of stabilty for further recruitment? Whiddop was quoted saying he questioned Price's future prior to signing. If this is the case it may be to the clubs detriment considering the Jennings fiasco last year. Moses simply didn't want his client at the club and under Price's helm.

Take it with a grain of salt but in response to Price's retention, Mal Meninga tweeted that no one else must have wanted the job.

You win some you lose some. When we were easily beating teams in 2009/2010 nobody complained that the opposition was ordinary. Now we are one of the ordinary teams getting belted by the gun teams it's not going to happen overnight success, it is a process and the coach needs to have the full support in doing so. Price needs to rebuild his way win or lose, we will see in the next two years.

As Mal Meninga said on twitter "no one wanted the job".. I believed Sheens was almost done but obviously not the case!

It is what is now so we need to make the most of it'! Dragons need to recruit Dugan and Chase quick smart to add some attacking fire ASAP.. I'd actually blood young Runciman now as well......He can't be any worse than Stanley who is Teririble.. At least the kid knows how to score tries.

it will always be a good season to me dragon v while i have a team to watch . we played a lot better in the second half . still no horse, and a winger playing out of position because we have lost our fullback till next year , and we played a team that is running hot, at full strengh and will more than likely be in the top 4 . the year has a long way to go yet ,so probably better to get onboard or wait till that magician of a coach that can win a comp every year happens along........

Congrats Price...to the naysayers; what's done is done, either get behind your team and coach or don't bother flying the flag when we start winning again. I've said it before, a rookie coach is an investment, let him build the team his way and give him a decent chance to prove himself. Remember we are missing our first string fullback, 5/8, front rower an our best utility, and lost to a red-hot roosters side at full strength who played their best game to date, with the help of the refs, and lost because we fell asleep for 10 minutes in the first half...put your knives away, be a bit patient and get behind the mighty dragons. I, for one, will keep renewing my membership, get to every game and cheer the boys on.

Bring on Manly.

So when are Manly and Melbourne going to go through their struggling cycle? We were a great team. Players retired or went to other teams for more cash. What did we do? Not much. We either replaced them with mediocre players or relied on young talent. Now we are complaining because no one wants to come to us. Had we pulled our finger out earlier we wouldn't be relying on a 30 something old hooker playing half back and a 5/8 who seems to have no ideas. Sorry for the rant, but today was pathetic and I'm sad to see how far we have fallen

You're mostly right. However with the storm, they were able to keep bellamy, cronk, slater and smith, despite being punished for cheating the salary cap. It does piss me off though when people say we could do nothing about it because of the cap, despite the fact Manly continue to push on, even after losing Hasler.

So Mal Meninga the coach that couldn't win a chook raffle without Michael Hagan telling him what to do has the nerve to criticize other coaches
