Problem with PS3 - Need help!

Hi guys,

My problem is this: I can play a game (let's say MW2) on my PS3 in campaign mode (ie not online) but when I try and sign into the PS Network to play online, I get the message saying I am signed in but the screen just stays a dark blue colour and nothing happens.

I have recently set up a wireless router/modem but I still run an ethernet cable from the PS3 to the modem and connect to my laptop via a wireless network. I am running a netgear wireless router/modem and for the first 24 hours everything was running fine. Now I can't play a game online via the PS Network.

Is this an issue with the PS3 or is it the modem or the PS Network?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure really. I'd try reconfiguring your PS3 again. Also forward some ports or put your PS3 into a DMZ. Firewalls can play havoc with your PS3.

It does actually sound like an issue with the PS3 though. Perhaps get the latest software update and re-install that.

I reformatted the disk and reinstalled MW2 as a starter. I went back to the PS store and logged in all existing id's, deactivated downloadable content so it wasn't erased off the hard drive when i did the format. Once I logged all id's in, all ranks and history had been saved so I then went back into the PS store and went to downloads and I'm now downloading the stimulus and resurgence packs as they still show up in the downloads history in the PS store.

I've had a game and everything is working fine.

I have to say I even amazed myself with this one. Looks like it was some corrupted data that was wreaking havoc with the system so formatting looks to be the only way to fix it.

I find the PSN can be flaky unless I set my DNS to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.
I'd give that a try.
