PS2 v Xbox in 2004

Well the 2004 forcasts are out
Here's what EA predict, predictions are normally a reflection of the past.

EA, whose estimates for hardware and software sales are closely watched as a barometer for the industry, forecast calendar 2004 North American hardware sales of 7 million to 8 million units for Sony Corp.'s <6758.T> PlayStation 2.

The company also forecast sales of 2.5 million to 3 million units each for Microsoft Corp.'s (nasdaq: MSFT - news - people) Xbox and Nintendo Co. Ltd.'s <7974.OS> GameCube.

For Europe, the company forecast 2004 hardware sales of 7 million to 8 million PS2 units and 1.5 million to 2 million units each of the Xbox and GameCube.


So looks like another year the PS2 will dominate in sales, in Europe and the USA..............in Japan we have already established the PS2 owns aswell

For u Xbox fans - this news is not good if you want your machine with NASA specs to survive.........as I assume you'll have 1 more generation (Xbox2), then the Gates will give up & pull out....he HATES coming 2nd.

Having been around a while, I can quite confidently predict two things: -

1. This argument, like all similar arguments before it (Atari ST vs. Amiga, Nintendo NES vs. Sega MS, Rock vs. Techno, Pasta vs. Rice, Cats vs. Dogs - etcetera, etcetera) is doomed to never being resolved.

2. Being vehemently fond of one platform over another to the point that you'll actually argue your case until you are red in the face and fuming on the internet will acheive nothing, other than give you an ulcer. You don't want an ulcer.

So, enjoy what you have or, like me, get all of 'em. You'll live longer

I am not argueing which one is better........thats opinionated
I am stating the fact which one sells more.....thats not opinionated, its fact

Facts go alot furthur in arguements, and on these forums not many people use facts, but instead use their own opinions

If i wanted to convince someone which is better (which is impossible), i would NOT just state sale figures

Anyway we now know which one is more popular....and/or sells more!

I dont care about which console sells more.

All i care about is that the X-Box (my console) continues to be supported here in Australia. That is all. As long as the X-Box doesnt end up like the Gamecube here, then i will be quite happy.

the sale figures depends on its existence for the future

Titanic wasnt the best ever.....but u can bet it will be availabale to buy on dvd for the next 10 years, and many copies available on the shelves at that

not once did i say its better coz it sells more
i was emphasising the lack of sales in comparison to its competitors which puts a dark cloud over its future to be competitive, which is what business is, in order to survive
