Qualification details for 2017 RLWC announced

My only criticism is that I'd prefer 16 teams, with the final 2 spots decided by playoffs, something like
Next ranked Pacific team v Next ranked Americas. eg Cooks v Canada
Next ranked Euro v next ranked MEA

That's my issue. Cook Islands, Italy etc should still have to qualify but I don't think they should be straight entries in. Even if they make all the one's just outside play each other. Canada for example are better then probably all the MEA nations yet may miss out

This happens in most world cups across most sports.

A world cup is not a competition of the best teams in the world. It's a competition of the best teams from around the world.
