Quarter Finals ~ Close proximity puts bums on seats !

Thinking about the scheduling for 2017, i do hope the scheduling of the four quarter finals gives people the opportunity to attend at least two games without having jump on a plane to get to both.

A great advantage of much of the RLWC being played in Northern England / Wales was the ease of travel. ( Well for this independent traveller ~ ageing backpacker it was anyway !)

The opportunity to catch 3 of the 4 quarter finals whilst based in Warrington was a bonus i hadn't planned on. ( Missed the Hull game unfortunately !)

Come 2017 - I'd like to see 2 quarters on in NSW (Sydney / Newcastle) on different days and then 2 in QLD ( Bne / Gold Coast). However, split up so people can get two at least games; or diehards can get to all four !

So perhaps something like:

Q1 - Newcastle - Friday night
Q2 - Sydney Saturday - 2pm
Q3 - Brisbane Saturday - 8pm
Q4 - Gold Coast Sunday - 3pm

Whilst I completely agree, won't NZ want to host one of the quarters?

Edit:
Without derailing thread, where would you speculate the Semis + Final will be held Partisan?

Definitely a good idea. The fans that have travelled all that way well definitely want to catch as many matches as possible. So having a match in Townsville, then Melbourne the next day is not ideal for these travelling fans.

It should go to cities/towns that big the highest and can ensure the biggest numbers.
I'd rather 4 sell outs than worrying about a few catching all 4.
Wellington, auckland, sydney, brisbane, townsville, newcastle, melbourbe, wollongong or perth.

Ah yeah....forgot about them

Mmmm.... Maybe give them the Friday or Sunday game in Auckland. Allows those keen enough to travel to perhaps still catch a couple of games or give people chance to tour NZ pre or post game. My thoughts are clouded as coming from a huge fan of the international game and my experience in UK 2013.

Semis -wise i would like to see the double header again. I do think whoever the fourth team is - they will be more competitive 2017 than 2013. Location wise - i opt for Brisbane.

End the tournament in Auckland .....for no particular reason, though hopefully the Kiwis have a run of wins in the years leading up to the comp and broadened their support base.

Wellington Friday Auckland Saturday
the other 2 Games in Sydney on Saturday and Sunday.
Semi finals one in Brisbane one in Auckland and the Final in Sydney

I'm not a fan of the double header concept. If we're worried about the "attendance" for the game v the so called minnow, then we should play it in a smaller stadium.

Think a RLWC based differently than normal

NSW and QLD and NZ should be considered as standalone venues

Rather than trying to play games everywhere
