Queensland "Passion" - the Underbelly

Queenslanders for years have claimed the mantle as the most passionate of the two SOO states. Similarly, AFL fans in Victoria regard it as a badge of pride that they are "passionate" supporters. But, maybe being pasisonate is not such a good thing after all. Let me explain.

Passion suggests being highly emotional, prone to excessive behaviour(rage, extreme delight), adrenalin-driven highs and lows. However, such behaviour also betrays a lack of self-control, a low self-monitor, an inability to act and respond appropriately, a risk that high emotion can lead to unwanted results. This also means that more intelligent, self-aware, more "together" types are less likely to be over "passionate" and let emotion rule the day.

On this basis, Queenslanders (and Victorian AFL fans), by claiming to be more "passionate', are basically saying " we are far less intelligent (on average) and prone to let basless emotions run what we say, think and do".

So, in future, when a Queenslander says "I am more passionate than you", don't argue - simply enjoy the fact that someone in a maroon jumper has effectively put up their hand and said "I am a Queenslander - and I am a moron."

Yes, their methods are fantastic too.

"WAAAAAAAH we're going to lose but that doesn't make Queensland fans nor players more passionate WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH."

Queenslanders are like the twisted cousin that is still part of the family regardless of their problems. They might be delusional rednecked thugs, but at least they know what the bloody hell the word 'footy' means.

Victorians are another species altogether. Any group of people that treats fumbleball as a religion is extremely suspect and should be held at arms length.

Queensland "passion" is a mixture of Banjo Hero, XXXX Beer and regular incest - not too far off Tasmanian "passion" when you think about it.

f**k me I prefer kiwis to Victorians.

The only people I rank lower than Victorians are the French, even then they know better footy than Victorians.

Nice one champ. Your argument has pretty much been defeated based on the responses from your NSW comrades.

Eg.
QLDers are f#cked.
Victorians are just wrong.
Queenlanders are rednecks etc...

Wow! Some really insightful and well thought-out comments there from so called 'intelligent' people.

I'm guessing you're from NSW ... therefore that is a NSW definition of "passion". Or it sounds like you pulled it out of somewhere where sun doesn't shine.

The Queensland definition is more like: Persist with effort in the face of adversity; bond together for a common cause; remember your mates; find meaning in milestones, but always remember the goal; when exhausted, find your next level ...

Good lucky with your psychology degree ...!

The difference is that , NSW people are obsessed with Queenslanders, you write stories about our passion, you all have an opinion on it, it covers talk shows, and football shows, you would rather buy a ticket to Lang park, then to your own stadium, because you want to be us, you want to feel this Passion.

You all fight so hard for it, you fight traffic in the mornings, and fight crowds and lines everywhere you go, you live in overpriced concrete jungles, and have to learn different languages to talk to your neighbors. The biggest night of the year for your city is a Gay Pride parade, and then you look at us!

We work hard but hardly work, and would rather go fishing then both. We all know our neighbors by name, and its still safe for our kids to play down the road. We enjoy sunshine and the best beaches, a cold beer and great football teams. We are doing what you want to be doing, so you call us rednecks and banjo players, LOL. Guess where you go for holidays?

Let me tell you a secret, we dont think about you lot at all, except for 3x80 min games a year, when we want to break your necks.

LOL like others have mentioned at least QLD follow the right sport other than Victorians who follow a sport that resembles under 7s Rugby League i.e. everyone chases after the ball, everyone drops the ball.... but then lets give em a point for having a go hahahaha

Qld is only on the minds of people in NSW at Origin time. NSW is on the minds of Qlders all year round. The next time NSW has a jubilee year celebration, you can bet your house it won't be advertised as 'Celebrate x years since we fenced the Qlders out!' ;-)

Take two aspirin, take a few deep breathes and try thinking of the good things in life ...

I don't understand this post, but will be Googling for the Bogan/English Translator to see if I can crack your code.

Coaster's post is one of the douchiest things I've ever seen on LU. Racist, homophobic and insular. And ppl wonder why there's a stereotype regarding queenslanders??
