Queensland ''rolling the dice''

NRL.com had on their front page ''rolling the dice'' with a link to this story about Queensland taking a risk in selecting Taylor and Cronk-
http://www.nrl.com/news/news/newsar...onk-taylor-get-qld-origin-debuts/default.aspx

To me, this is NRL accepting that the Origin series has an inevitable conclusion again this year.

If selecting Cronk (who would waltz into the NSW team) and Taylor (who would probably not look out of place either) is a risk, I'm not sure what you call the selection of Idris and others.

How many of the Queenslanders starting 13 wouldn't make it into the NSW team- I think only Boyd, Scott and Tonga.

If Slater was unavailable for Australia it would be interesting to see who would play fullback...just to see how far the Gidley love affair stretches

Good question, I'd say Hayne. Although with Sheens as coach perhaps he could put Farah there

Ppl probally forget.. but before Cronk was Storms regular halfback. He was a impact player of the bench on similar fashion to Craig Wing.
He was great. If he plays a similar role to that.. he will be very dangerous.

Otherwise. QLD are covered if any of there major playmakers go down.
Top player, and more versatile then what i think ppl relise.

That's a different situation...Australia only selected one specialist winger in the whole squad (two if you count Hayne) so who else was going to play wing? Hayne was always going to play wing in the 4N final so there's not much point in having him there at fullback tbh. Gidley was just a fill in and he needed the game time anyway (just in case).

If it was the ANZAC test (whatever they call it these days) we'd get our answer.

A la Shaun Berrigan. I agree: the selection makes perfect sense.
