Ok I searched the board but alas couldn't find an answer but can anyone tell me what happens if the Warriors get a home final. As it will be played over in NZ there will be difficulties with broadcasting as the semis are LIVE on TV. For instance if the Warriors finish 4th then they would play on a Friday Night and therefore the game would kick-off at 10pm over there. Would they change that game around with 3 VS 6 perhaps?

EDIT I meant 10pm not 1pm my bad.

Cheers for the help.

there is only 2 hours difference.

New Zealand is in front of Australian time, not behind it.

6pm NZ = 4pm Eastern Australia
8pm NZ = 6pm Eastern Australia
10pm NZ = 8pm Eastern Australia

WTF? 1pm? on a Friday afternoon? In NZ?
They would be lucky to get 3000 people

No the Friday game kick-off is 7:45pm or 8pm AEST. And the game is LIVE so in NZ who are 2 hours ahead of us it would be 9:45/ 10pm.

yeah , my bad.

so i guess they would kick it off at 9.30pm , there is really no option to move it to another day under the current system.

maybe the nrl could strike a deal with channel 9 for a 9pm nz kick off and channel nine can scrap temptation for the night.

Not really in the first week.

Or maybe such a compromise is already written into the agreement.

How many families are going to go to a match that kicks off at 9pm? I think the only solution is for 9 to show it delayed.

I don't know I think you could change it if you wanted to. I mean say Parra come third and Manly second then there are two games in Sydney that night. IF you move Parra to Friday it wouldn't make much difference. Plus they would prefer the 8pm kickoff compared to 6pm on a Saturday.

Mind you this is all hypothetical. We have 5 weeks left and alot can change.

That's why they'd have to swap it IMO. I know that weeks 2 and 3 are subject to change. Why not week 1?

It should be 9 having to accomodate the game rather than the other way around. Switching matches around or forcing the Warriors to start the match at 9pm would be a joke. I know there's an agreement in place but kick the game off at 7:30-8pm in NZ and show it delayed on 9 at the normal timeslot, the earth won't fall of it's axis I promise.

The current McIntyre system relies heavily on matches in week 1 being played in a specific order. They can't change the days. If the Warriors do come fourth, they'll play it whenever it has to be played. They just might not show it live. If they do want to show it live (or are contractually obliged to), it would make most sense to play it at 8:30pm NZ time, so it can run immediately after the news at 6:30pm in AUS.

what's so bad about a 6.30 pm time slot anyway? f**k a current affair for the night (if it's friday) and australia's bogan home videos

The new final series doesn't confine the NRL to playing matches in the same order as before, so if the Warriors were to finish 4th, most likely the game would be played at 7:30pm on Saturday (5:30PM AEST) with the 3 v 6 game moved to Friday Night.

Yep, I reckon that's the most practical and likely option. The 4v5 and 3v6 games can be swapped around easily without impacting on the necessary "order" of Week 1 games.

To answer someone else above, the only other home final the Warriors have had was the 1v8 game played on a Sunday afternoon. That worked out well for the broadcasters.

The McIntyre system does not work properly unless you play the first week games in the right order.

The NRL circulars on the finals series indicates flexibility has been added to the week 2 and week 3 finals. There's nothing there to suggest the same has been extended to week 1.
