With less than 10 minutes to go Harlequins were trailing St Helens at Knowsley Road 10-6. Harlequins got deep into St Helens territory and kicked through. There were two Quins players in front of Wellens as they twice hacked on. Picking the ball up two feet from the line, the Quins player manage to fall into the post and knock on with the line, and a win against Saints beckoning. Saints then went and scored to close the game out at 16-6.

I don't know who the Quins player was who dropped it, but I am convinced they would have held on to win had he scored. Their players were queued up and were bouncing up and down anticipating the try.

Despite the narrow escape Saints have once again proved their defensive quality by only conceding 6 points. The best defensive unit I've ever seen play for the club is there at the moment. Alan Wilson and Daniel Anderson, take a bow. Awful conditions tonight stopped most of the flowing rugby we are used to from Saints, but the try Sean Long set up for Paul Wellens was magical. He chipped through on half way on the last before drawing the fullback and putting an amazing round the back flick pass to Wellens who scored.

Great performances tonight from Wellens, Ade Gardner and especially James Graham. That lad is easily the best young forward in Super League and if continues in this vein, he will be hammering on the GB selection door. Probably not quite ready for the 17, but has surely got to be included in the squad if he keeps his current form up. I sat near Vinnie Anderson in the stands tonight and the fact that he can't get a game shows how well Graham is doing.

The other big 2 clubs won tonight too. Leeds beat Hull at the KC and the mighty Salford roared into third with a convincing win over Huddersfield. Wakefield humiliated the religation certainties Wigan too.

You've spoilt my weekly glory!!

I#ll just put it in this thread.

Saints tick another box after winning Harlequins 16 - 6.

The match was looking like a fix when the the score was 10 - 6, with the ref constantly moving Harlequins up field to grab a late winner.

However Saints have rised above a new challenge tonight - they won with 13 vs 14 on the field.

Can anybody stop us ?

Next up is that joke of a club (top vs bottom clash).

It will be sad to see Wigan get smashed again by Saints, they used to be such great clashes.

Wonder if Bradford will give Terry Newton a 1 game loan? That'd make things a bit more interesting.

Is he available to play yet?
