Flanno is in the same rut that Griffin was in...picking the same team week in week out...too scared of getting the wooden spoon to give match time to some the younger forwards like LPT and Halangahu....or mixing up the halves a bit...such a pity but I get it as the wooden spoon is a real possibility
Griffin was never close to the spoon

Can you specify which coaching techniques are outdated?
The one where we’re very competitive in games and not getting smashed by more than 13+ ..

It’s probably the most consistent we’ve been in years and people still aren’t happy! Yes results haven’t gone our way..

We’ve only lost twice by 13+ that’s the same as ONLY two other teams in the comp this year!!

We can talk about Kyle Flannagan, coaching, recruitment etc etc.

Our big issue this year is the injury toll. Coachmen twins, Egan, now two SOO players ( one Aust rep) in Holes and Sua all gone for the season. Also Finau was hitting his straps and Nick Ts but both gone for season.

Yet the big NRL story this past week is the valiant Dogs are without Connor Treacy. How do they face this adversity?

Take Crichiton, King, Kickau Priest out of dogs and they are stuffed also.

We need to have sufficient depth to replace injured players, unfortunately the roster has been poorly managed under this coach and previous coaches as well.

If you believe two years + previous stints as a list manager and assistant coach weren't enough for Flanagan to influence current roster, fine, but what is being done for us to address injuries next season?

I don’t think wholesale changes are required, despite what some seem to think. As others have said, the results have been pretty good considering the injuries and lacklustre roster Flanno inherited.

As for his ‘recruitment’, that comes down to a lot more than just the coach. The players have got to want to come to the club as well remember. Hopefully DA is going to really help us with this. Who we have recruited, Emre for example, has been more out of desperation than choice.

What some of you are expecting won’t happen overnight and to only give a head coach a couple of years to turn this ship around is completely unfair. It’s clear the boys are playing for the coach and you should all be happy enough with that, if they weren’t (and they haven’t in the recent past) you would have a lot more to complain about.

I know everyone will put in again this weekend and that’s all I ask. I’ll leave the coaching to the coach and trust that under this guy, this team can return to consistently good results. There’s certainly no other proven performers out there, just a bunch of recommendations that deserve an opportunity. Sure, one of these could be the answer, but it isn’t where the smart money is and there’s a genuine risk of going from the frying pan to the fire, something this club just cannot risk at this time.

I’ll also continue to hope that the new CEO can drive the change we need in the front office and move on some of the old boys and hangers on that just shouldn’t be there any more.

Drags by four.

Between Guler and Cake the stats man will be working over time. Glad these guys are keeping the likes of LPT and Halangahu out of the team.
I wonder why Flanno sees value in selecting Lawrie and Guler over our youngsters LPT and Liu.

We have next to no chance of making the finals now so why not blood our youngsters for 2026.

LPT has held his own and seemed to be progressing well each game, and Liu is a prop who has size and a will to break into first-grade.
