It's time to fold the Joint Venture. Let the Illawarra Steelers run the show, play all the games out of Wollongong, and give up on the Dargons portion. Do the NRL, and Dargons supporters a favour.

Our front row have not got enough meters in them. Deadline is not a Meter eater even though he is playing ok. We have got some good young forwards coming through but we need 2 good experienced props.
We also need a halfback as Flanagan is not a first grader, he has a go but just does not have it. I would throw the sink at Metcalfe for halfback for a start. And unfortunately for Flannagan he needs to go to Super League

Well Kyle is signed until the end of 2027 and we can all thank coach Flanno for that. Absolute joke and anyone having a whinge on here about negative this and that go have a read of the comments on FB and Twitter, the majority of us fans feel the same way we have gone backwards. This forum isn't the only place people vent there problems but apparently a few of us on here are not welcome because we have a different opinion and view then some...😵💫🤣

Metcalfe is rocks & diamonds too, mate. The diamonds might shine a little brighter than K Flan, but the rocks are just as big.
Make an offer to Sexton and bide our time until Kade Reed is ready.

Hey bubs wake up your illawarra steelers are long gone years ago .
They sold out to Wincorp no cash and debts owed St George Leagues millions .

of course it’s heartbreaking as a life long dragon to have to endure a shellacking like tonight.

Actually I’m glad we have Suli because he does bend the line, drives forward and doesn’t get thrown backwards. He Carrie’s better than any of our forwards. Holmes may drop ball ( btw that was a strip by Karfusi early) but at least be provides speed and go forwards.

Nathan Lawson looked ok last week, however he isn’t that quick; he got overwhelmed tonight.
I genuinely feel for young Lawson. His heart definitely is in the right place and switching from Union to League is awkward - some kill it and some don't. I hope he is kept in the team for the remainder of year so that he really feels comfortable on all aspects of playing league. His 7's highlights reel really won Flanno over and I know that Flanno is generally a good judge of a decent player. He needs a lot more time unfortunately and as a winger needs plenty of dash, strength and guile and able to out jump the opposition. I am not too sure if he possesses these skills when you see guys like Mark Nawaqanitawase, Will Warbrick, Xavier Coates,Tupou, Dom Young etc These are not all rugby converts but they have the skills I mentioned and they are the sorts of players our club desperately needs.

Boy, do I ever feel deflated.

What a shellacking. What a dismal display from our boys. Can we bounce back and overcome this huge loss? I'm not expecting it.

This year we finished round 14 on 14 points, plus we have had 2 byes already. In 2024 round 14 we had 16 points and only the 1 bye. Someone please explain how you think we have improved? Anyone? We have gone backwards.
Also more than likely next week after we play Cronulla, we will have conceded more points and scored less than we had last season with the same amount of matches played.

There's absolutely no improvement in the team this year when Flanagan said before a ball was kicked that we are a better team this year than last year.

The game plan that Woolf used against us was much, much better than what Flanno devised for the Dragons against the Dolphins and he played to our weaknesses all afternoon. In saying that though, they do have a better roster than ours particularly in the halves and backs.
Their forwards were stronger and even Kerr showed more get go than what he has in the past to outshine against our pack to a degree.

I wholeheartedly agree that we need a special tall winger in our team. Bostock had that height to out jump Lawson and other teams have them as well and they compete and are hard to contain.

Lots of stuff to still work on and players to recruit, retain and say goodbye to.
It doesn't have to be a winger. Lemeleleu (sp) is a back rower and he was able to reach a great height to steal the ball from Gutho. Nanai regularly does it for the Cows, Katoa regularly does it for the Storm. The important thing is the type of kick. It has to be high enough for the attacker to get under it and unfortunately, we rarely use this type of kick. Our kicks are safety first, pin them in their red zone types. Val nearly pulled one off last night. Suli is very good in the air.

I watched bits and pieces of the game however it became just too much to bear . The Dolphins were on a mission and accomplished what they set out to do - to destroy the Dragons . Our boys were never in the game , the bigger Dolphin pack pulverised our own and setup their backline .

The Dragons and Flanagan need to sit down and worked out just what went wrong and in their next match lift their standards as there are no easy matches in the NRL .

Just damn shattered that they never put more heart into the game , a lot of soul searching to be done by many of the players .

I don't know how you put Metcalfe in the same level as Flanagan. I can assure Metcalfe is a very good player and would be a good pick up. Flannagan is a reserve grader at best Sexton maybe worth a shot but I am not as convinced on him though better than Flannagan.
In the end we could Nathan Cleary and it would not matter as we have no descent front rowers.
Also we have no line speed in defence, if you do not move up on your opponents you will always get belted.

witnessed the train wreck firsthand at Suncorp ... the takeaway was how well the Dolphins exploited that Dragons retreating defense line ... the tactic simply no match for an attacking side with agility and speed moving the ball fast and wide, against the stand-off cover defense the dragons employ.

It seems to be our achilles heel that smart teams exploit, it's not something we can persist with. The Dolphins just punched holes in the defence line at will, it's a reflection on their defensive tactics, and after an appalling result like last night the defence coach needs to fall on his sword.

The way things are going 2026 will see both Flanno and Young gone. I'm hoping we go for a coach like Josh Hannay who is obviously a rookie first grade coach but we need something new and different. Throw in any of Holbrook, Arthur, Demetriou, Walters, Henry, Slater, Sheens as assistant coaches and it already makes me excited. And before anyone says all these coaches have been sacked or they are shit etc Flanno has been deregistered and his integrity within the game has been questioned by alot. Maybe it's the reason we can't sign anyone except aging veterans that are no longer needed at their current club? I wouldn't advise my client to put their trust in a coach who has broken the rules not once but twice.
