Gidley keeps collecting 3 points each week for next 8 rounds and he'll be accepting the Dally M.:sarcasm:

At 18 zip, I was disgusted and checked the score. Should've had faith but they haven't exactly given me reason to haha

Smith has been good the last 6 or so games. Most of our forward pack was very good today actually, it was our halves and backs that looked totally lost in the first half. Mullen had his worst half that I can remember, his kicking was atrocious.

Good to see us come back and show some steel anyway, could have forgiven us falling to pieces after the events of the last week and then going behind 18-0 early.

And a field goal!

Yeah Smith has been fantastic. This is why I'm often hammering on about keeping injuries in mind when it comes to evaluating how a player will go in the future. Plenty of people were writing him off and saying he was done. I personally thought he was our best forward out there today. We played very ordinary in the first half and without Smith there, we would have been in a lot of strife.

I'm stoked that we finally got a field goal. I remember hearing that it's been around 100 games since we got one. I'd be very curious how many we have missed in that time. If it was over 15, it wouldn't surprise me.

On Mullen I thought he was very poor today. I was watching him closely and to me his body language signaled someone that wasn't very motivated to be out there. His kicking game was atrocious also. If the wind is really strong, it's a great opportunity to test out the back 3. He constantly kept chipping it down the players throats.

Going to admit I started to tune out on this one to the extent I missed our first try. I was watching it even more delayed than delayed and nearly looked at the final score.

I have this "thing" that if we win 3 in a row we are going great and if we get 4 in a row we are really on the ball.
Geez I hope we get that 4th win. We topple a few teams above us and season will be a success for me. Faint glimmer of hope but no expectation we will make the 8.

Remember how Gidley sucked at half? The only things that have really changed are attitude, commitment and spirit. That's all we have ever really needed.

I agree with what has been said about Mullo being poor today. It always seems as though we can't get our forwards and backs to fire together. Our forwards played well today and if Mullo went half as good as he should, we would've put 50 on the Sharks.

I really get disappointed when his kicking game is so poor because we all know how good it should be. Sometimes I actually wonder if he's really as good as we all think he is. I'm getting very tired of his inconsistency tbh.

His first half was woeful. It seemed he expected the ball to be carried more in the wind and worried about kicking it a bit too much and gifting them a 7 tackle set. I thought his second half improved quite well.

Yep, thats what I was thinking about Mullos game today too. You could see that the was trying to compensate for that strong wind but it just wasnt working

His 2nd half was much better, his kick for Akus try being the highlight

I'm really proud of the boys at the moment. All of them. Even Darius.

Nobody would have blinked an eyelid if they had have packed it in and were flogged yesterday. They've had the season from hell in every way, capped off by the coach shocking them through the week and announcing he was leaving, having a crack at them in the process.

To still have the guts and commitment to come back from 18-nil down yesterday is one hell of a achievement given the circumstances. Yes I know it was the Sharks and they turned off, but a few years ago we would have gone on to lose that by 50. To their credit this year, despite everything, they've yet to throw in the towel and let themselves get flogged when things are going bad like they used to.

If nothing else they've built some momentum so everyone can go into the rise for Alex round excited, instead of fans dreading it and only showing up because they feel compelled for Alex. The more people we can get through the gates next week the better.

I desperately hope Beau Scott stays on. He's a beast. Smith and Fa'alogo turned the clock back too.

Just as an aside - how good is Roberts going? He's a talent. Being able to shift so flawlessly to an unfamiliar position is proof of that.

I also was surprised by Roberts work yesterday. He did a Clydesdale on Clydesdale by lifting the team hugely when he came on and gave great service and momentum. Kid is a talented footballer there is no doubting it. Bench utility is is niche though, no pressure a the freedom to have fun with the ball, which is when he is most dangerous.

26,000, what's the capacity?

How come Mullo never pulls out his banana kick to Aku anymore? It has worked on so many occasions and I don't think he's used it this year once.

I hope this is Bennett's main legacy in our team - some guts. For all the criticisms of our team during Bennett's reign - we don't roll over anymore... and we used to be absolute specials at it. We might still be fickle compared to teams that Bennett is used to working with - but he's taken us miles forward in this regard, even if we aren't where we need to be with it yet.

Roberts is obviously a talent... I think the main thing holding him back as a halfback is probably his communication with the team. He can't steer the ship at all and is very quiet - but it's clear there's a talented little footballer in there. Actually, he's a genuine footy player, not an athlete... and it's always refreshing to see that in this day and age.

Ever since Kurt just decided to play direct and straight we have just never looked like losing. Forget the playmaker crap and just run the ball hard. When the space is there move the ball. I am all happy to leave him at 7 if he just plays to his strength. His hard runs.

Roberts does tend to play sideways too often, Gids straightening our attack has been noticable. There's a good footy player lurking inside Roberts. There's too much class on too many of his touches to ignore it.

What really amazed me was that he didn't just keep bombing the ball when we were 40 meters out on the last. It would at the very least allow hang time so the team can tackle the player soon after catching it near their try line. Plus with the wind being as strong as it was, it would have made the catch a much tougher prospect.

You and me both mate. I just read a post from someone saying that he has played 186 games. I can't think of a player who has played that many games and been inconsistent over the entire time. He just can't seem to get all the elements in his game firing at once. He'll go really well for a while with his kicking game, but his running and creativity fall away. Or he'll start running the ball more and being a threat, but his kicking game will be be off. At least his defense is always top shelf I suppose.
