Our boys wanted it more than Manly and it showed. We won't do any damage come finals time but I think we deserve to be there, if only for one week.

Good on Souths for a good win. Close to all of the 50/50 bounces and calls went their way.
7/7 from Souths under Hampstead this year - Coincidence or something more? Some of the calls were ridiculous tonight.

Well done to the Bunnies. Sets up a great game at Leichhardt on Sunday. Hopefully the Tigers win(I dont care how much by, even another point win will do). Souths can make the semi's by beating the Roosters.

To be honest, watching the game last night, Hampstead could have penalised Manly more than he did, especially in the first half. H e was constantly telling them not to just keep looking at him after he had called them to move, but they kept doing it, particularly Wattmough. As far as the penalty against Wattmough in the second half, he was in no mans land about five metres from the play the ball, neither a marker nor in the line, and when the first marker fell over, it looked even further back.

That was a really bad call imo

I can't believe that Manly made 102 tackles more, thats 17 sets of 6 tackles more than Souths. It seemed that Manly's only possesion came when they had the ball to score their 3 tries.

Manly's 6 pocket theory play really fell to pieces tonight! See what happens when you rely on kicks!

Souths off kicks: 2

Manly off kicks: 0

Souths fans : I will really be hoping Souths win their next two games and finish 7th.
After Bean's performance last night Souths deserve nothing less than playing a pissed off Manly at Brookvale with Tony Archer as the referee.

LOL @ all the Manly fans whinging about the referee. If some of you actually got off your arses and bothered to go to the game, you would've seen more than you do on tele. Once Souths got it back to 18-18 the Eagles were constantly offside, but Hampstead just continued to warn them and not penalise.

What about the Widders "held" pass? And then a repeat by Manly in the 2nd half where he called play on? And stop whinging about the Watmough penalty - it was 60m out from the tryline FFS. If they can't hold out one of the most impotent attacks in the NRL from there than that's their own fault.

Souths did really bloody well to keep earning repeat sets and chipping away at what is IMO the best defence in the NRL. Perseverance won that game.

Whats that? 35 tackles in a row on our line with no try...

Souths deserved the win but they did get 1 try directly from a strip and that Watmough penalty lead directly to a try, surely Souths fans can concede that, but we should not have lost from 18-6 up anyways, Souths had the momentum and deserved the win in the end.

The loss will be good for us, it means nothing as we were never going to get the MP and its good to see Souths looking like making the finals after a 17 or 18 year drought.

Exactly mate. We were extraordinarily stiff not to get more penalties, yet all these wankers want to do is blame the ref. If Hampstead was fair dinkum he could've penalised Manly every single set. But as you said, all he did was warn them for 40 minutes.

At the end of the day the better team won and I have no fear at all about playing Manly in the finals. In fact the only team I would rather play that is in the top 8 as it stands, if we make it, would be the Cows.

Tony Archer has killed us twice this year. Anyone but Hampstead and Archer and I'll be content.

But yeah, I hope Manly do verse the Rabbits in the first semi.

Gotta laugh at the Manly fans with comments like "Well done Souths......but the ref did this" Congrats on your win Souths......but the ref did that" And the coach "I'm not taking anything away from Souths........ but I have to question some refereeing decisions in the second half" f**k Dessie, i'd hate to see if you were taking something away from Souths. Talk about a backhanded compliments.

If Manly fans won't say it then i will. Well done Souths on a gutsy win coming back from 18-6 down. No buts about it, the better team on the night won just as the most deserving team did.

Well it was true Ice, and I am sure if it was your side you would be saying the exact same thing.

Not if my own team weren't good enough on the night and contributed to the loss themselves i wouldn't. Rarely if ever you'll find me complaining about the refs because it all evens out in the end. Every team is on the end of some shocking calls sometimes just as every team is on the end of some good ones.

The result of last nights game had much more to do with the fact that Souths played all over Manly in the second half than what it did any refereeing decisions. The right team won and the only ones that can't see it is Manly fans and their coach..

I think the correct team one as they dominated field position and wanted it more however it does get at me slightly that one of their tries came from a deliberate strip which was not penalised, but as you say it every team gets those calls during the season, however the ones that are fresh in your mind do annoy you a little when it leads directly to a try.

When we played you earlier this year, we where caned 9-4 in the penalties, yet I recall Manly fans telling us to stop blaming the ref.

Learn to accept that your team was beaten by a better side on the night. No more, no less.
