Stagg is definitely not back according to Bulldogs officials. But Payne did play NSW Cup, he scored a try. Cutler and Keating were both training with the first grade side at the fan day yesterday.

Roberts and Payne both played NSW Cup.

Though Roberts had been good in first grade TBH, much better than Keating

Good game of NSW Cup yesterday, first time i've seen a Norths win live in 12 year, brilliant stuff. Healthy Canterbury turn out as well

Man, do we even know our season is on the line? it was our game to lose and we gave the sharks every opportunity to take the game. A few players out there were very poor, idris was one of them, just f**k off to the tits and let lafai take the #4. Bobcat was ordinary so were keating and reynolds, hodkinson franky p and halatau were outstanding though. Hope we play ALOT better against manly, a performance like tonight and it will be worse than 38 - 4

Agree with most re: ordinary performances but Reynolds ordinary? No way, great go forward when he was on.

Hokko, Frank, Halatau, Turner, Barba - all had top games. Morris looked pretty good again as well but when Keating's on the park, he and Wright might as well grab a blankey and pillow... he's obsessed with the right edge :x

Roberts is better than Keating. I realise he's also leaving and Keating isnt, but seriously, keating is very mediocre

i agree keating is mediocre, but I see potential. I see him create quite a few opportunities, but it's so bloody frustrating because he doesn't even realise he's created them. LIke tonight he went on a run across field, drew a player infield, which left Idris in an acre of space, and the stupid fwit didn't even look, just took the tackle.

I've heard the 'magical' players described as though that can see the game as if they're sitting in the stands. Unfortunately Keating isn't one of those players, but if he can watch a lot of footage of himself and learn from it then he could turn into a really good player.

And by the way how good is it to see Wright finding some form. I don't think he'll be giving up his wing spot any time soon.

yeah i thought idris had his best game for quite a while, but tbh would probably prefer someone like lafai instead of him. Idris's strength is phenomenal (and something the side lacks a bit which makes it a good asset) but he doesn't seem to have much going for him other than that.

My analysis:

1- Barba. Caught every bomb, and made the tackles that were thrown at him.
2- Turner. Deadset replacement for Patten. Champion. I call him 10 metre turner - cause he makes 10 metres + out of dummy half everytime
3- Morris - finally getting some early ball, and you can tell by his space. Worked well in D as well
4- Idris - about effing time he showed some Gusto. Played well in attack, but still looks shaky in defense
5- Wright - Wobbly at times, but it didnt cost us. caught a few, let a few go, and looks pretty good with room to move
6- Keating - as much as I hate this guy, give credit when its due. He played very well, kicked brilliantly, offerred early ball
7 - Hodkinson- My man of the match. 2 try assists, great vision, tackled stoutly (and quickly entering my top 3 defensive halfbacks in the comp)
8-10 - Tolman and Kas were outstanding. Both ran over 100 metres, and just kept hitting it up for us. Got us outta trouble a few times.
11 - Pritchard was a beast. Bent the line and numbered up in D well.
12 - Ryan - Quiet night, expected with the return of Stagg though
13 - Halatau. Looooooove this guy! Made some crucial inside cover tackles, ran well, scored a deserving try.

Bench: Great service from 2 of em, limited game time for the others. Mention to Beastwood and Stagg, who played great. Eastwood is starting to look damaging. Stagg ran over 100 metres. Cutler and Paea only managed 50 minutes between them, so no real chance to shine

I thought Paea with the limited time on the field showed exactly why he should be there, he bent the line every time and just charges the ball up at full speed.

I agree. When fit he is exactly what we need. Power straight running.

How good is Hokko's defence? Big and small he does a great job.

Paea was great and Eastwood as of late has been hitting some form that we all know he's capable of.

Pritchards 1 week charge for that hit is ridiculous. It was a big hit gone wrong because Graham stepped into it, causing his body to bend down a bit and cop it in the head. Completely accidental and even though you aren't allowed to hit anyone in the head it doesn't deserve a weeks suspension.

Here's the footage btw: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUteB07tClY
