The difference is a sense of timing. Other teams have it, we're coached not to.
Melbourne also ignored multiple penalty opportunities because they knew they could really swing the momentum - not just with points, but total domination of possession and just wearing down the opposition. We barely touched the ball while they went on their try-scoring spree (a spree that included not going for penalty goals).
We would have just slotted the 2 and casually gone back down our end, then within 2 minutes been on the back foot as our opponent lifted the intensity.
And it does happen basically every single time. We never back up penalties with a decent next ten minutes.
