On TV today there was a shot of a kid with a banner and he had his dyed his hair blue and red and he looked probably 10 or so years old. He was so passionate and looked like he was really a big fan. I feel bad for kids like that who have had to watch garbage week in week out for years.

Stone said in the presser "you Ca t call yourself an nrl player and keep making the same dumb mistakes every week"...... He didn't name names, so I assumed he was referring to the halves or gidley (sitting right next to him with a dumb look on his face) ....... But then he said our halves didn't play too bad.......

So who does that leave?...... Houston didn't make his usually stamp on the game.... So I'm confused

And you can't call yourself an NRL coach and keep picking the same dumb players every week.

Time to give some of the boys a wake up call Rick. You have 1 season and nineteen rounds left before you get the chop.

Ok, well that makes it plainly obvious that the only player who will be dropped is Korbin

Are you for real!!. What your saying is that you do not sign anyone unless they have proven themselves over a period of time in 1st grade. Thank god you are not on the knights recruitment team but then again it wouldn't matter as they have their heads buried in the sand and don't look outside the square for solutions.

BTW Jack Bird and Keiran Mosely are 2 recent examples of nil or little NRL experience who were signed by other clubs and are both shining for their respective new clubs.

You think young, talented kids who are shining lights in the NRL right now would just come to Newcastle? We'd have to compete with clubs like Manly, like Titans who have the cap space to out-bid us each time we turn up. This isn't about playing few games, it's about having to get into a bidding war that's going to result in us paying big overs for a kid who's unproven and could easily crumble at any stage.

It's a risk. Like it or not, admit it or not, signing young kids with little experience despite their performances is a risk and it's even greater when you have to pay plenty. Titans signed Mosely on little, Sharks signed Bird on very little, hell he isn't even signed for next season and you can bet your arse we wouldn't be able to match what they're offering him in.

If anything, it's glad we don't have someone like you signing players because we'd be getting flash in the pan players and have a greater player turnover than the Sydney Roosters simply because for a few weeks they "looked the goods". I'd much rather persist with what we have, trial Feeney, trial Randell, trial whoever until Cogger and Lamb are ready before I'd go throwing money away. We've settled on the fact we won't be premiers anytime soon, we've clearly settled for mediocrity, so settling for two more years shouldn't be much of an issue.

Pretty hard to when you can't sign players on the lowest possible dollar and pump the rest of the contract up with third party deals ;-)

Yep. He Did. He also suggested that we should stick we our current players until Cogger and Lamb are ready. They are 17 and 18 so they are at least 4 years away.

I am sure everyone on here would be glad to put up with 3 or 4 more years of mediocrity and then there is no guarantee they will make the grade.

Just unbelievable

oh, did I?

Seriously, take a f**king look at your posts bud. You're throwing up every option as this golden opportunity that carries no consequences and think they're the answer. Just bringing you back to reality bud.

You're clearly desperate and clutching at EVERY straw and any straw that you can find to justify your rumblings

Hey, Sandow had a good game today! Let's sign him! Doesn't matter I can count the amount of good games he has per year on a single hand.

Is that the right attitude to have bud?

How can you possibly still be innocent after watching that very same thing happen more times than I can count in the past? He did nothing except play exactly to my expectations in that moment.

Every now and then he doesn't f**k up. With Sandow missing the kick I had deluded myself into hoping that would be one of those times.

I didn't get to see the game and just saw the score and highlights. Looks like normal service has resumed and we'll be 4-4 in no time and fighting for a place in the 8 for the rest of the year. Looks like it's going to be another year of the usual rubbish, up and down performances and being beaten at home by sides who got smashed the week before. We'll finish 9-13th as usual and everyone will say "if only we beat the Eels/Dragons/Sharks in the early rounds"

Why do I even bother getting excited about another year of being a Knights supporter? They promise so much sometimes and then let me down just like they always do.

Yeah, Stone at least gave some anonymous players a slight serve in the presser. He could have gone much further. To be honest you could feel the tension in Gidley sitting there listening to it. If Gidley took an honest look in the mirror he would know he hasn't been up to this standard for years.

That was a shocking watch, for some reason those two teams always produce a stinker when they play each other.

We really fell apart after the first 20 minutes. Way too many basic errors, but on top of that, as we've said numerous times it's the stupid plays that really get to me. You can almost forget a dropped ball or a rushed kick that goes dead because at least the players aren't trying to do those things. But when we're seeing 5+ flat out dumb plays every game it really gets to you because it's stuff that professional footy players should be able to control.

For example, still 5 or so minutes left and we HAVE to score points because we're behind. The team goes one out for 4 plays, leaving you with one more tackle to make something happen. How on earth do you expect to win like that? Not only that but the Eels know the one-outs are coming so they rush up and shut the play down after like a 3m gain.

Of all the criticism of Mullen's chip-bombs and Roberts' handling errors, it's really in those situations where the halves win or lose you the game. One or both should stand up and take control of the set. They should recognise that the Eels are rushing up on the one-out man, call for the ball and shift it a bit further from the ruck. Or do something, anything except what they're doing. Even if you receive the ball from the hooker and just shovel it on to Snowden for a hit-up at least you're touching the ball 3-4 times a set and putting doubt in the defender's mind.

Charles Barkley was talking the other day about how the successful players and coaches are able to make adjustments during a game, and can therefore win even when they're not even necessarily the best team on the day, whereas losers will just keep doing the same thing over and over and hope it works. Yesterday we needed someone to step up and make one or two adjustments, and we might have won even though we were making errors. We only lost by 6, but we lost because we approach the game like losers.

Oh, another dumb play I forgot earlier is how many times we get caught on the last tackle and just meekly hand the ball over. I don't have the stats on it but it seems like we've done it a shocking amount of times this year.

And I'm not even talking about the ones like early on yesterday when Mullen shaped to kick/pass and then took the line on and got caught short. That one at least provided something different and keeps the defence honest. I'm talking about the ones where we just throw the ball around and then Gagai or someone dies with it as if it's the 3rd tackle and not the 6th. Everyone in the team should be aware when it's the last tackle, not just Mullen/Roberts.

Underlining our status as the team that can run anyone into form,

Parra has the worse away record of any team in the last couple of years at 14% and hadn't beaten us in 7 games.

Sharks had lost 10 straight at home until we turned up.

We are truly a gift to opposing coaches whose team needs a leg up.

Ironically the only hoodoo we can't seem to break is beating the Dragons at home consistently.

Oh and just so we can kill the myth that this is a hiccup and we'll still make the eight because we usually finish the season strongly. We usually do on the backs of draws where a big chunk of our home games are in the 2nd half of the season.

2015 is different, we've got most in the 1st half of the draw, so by the time the Cowboys put a score on us, we will have dropped 3 home games in the space of a month.

Barry toohey saying Mullen is out, gids to 5/8, gagai to fb and sione to centre.

Gids is going to want to make up for last weeks atrocity by trying even harder, and now he will get to touch the ball 60+ times during the game. This won't end badly at all.

Unrelated question, what's the record for most errors by one player in a game?

Dunno but gids or Tyrone probably hold it
