Dodd can play #7 he is certainly talented enough.
The games I have seen him there he looks like Cleary physically, lean and muscular, tallish, good passes, nice kicks and skilled.
Dodd is probably on the outer @ Saints because he wants to prove himself in the NRL and play under The Legend. That, plus the fact the side has deteriorated overall, are to blame.

Dodd has played over EIGHTY games for The Saints, not including bench and back-up roles. Between 2020-24 he has made 86 starts. That is a LOT of starts for a man 22 years of age. He has scored multiple tries [30] and kicked a few goals, including the game winning FG at PENRITH in early 2023 against Iron Man Cleary and the Gang in the WCChallenge. This was @ Penrith in early '23 against their FULL DECK of starters! His total points for the club are 152, very good for someone who normally does not kick goals. Dodd's overall winning percentage is almost 74% [73.26%], a great statistic.
Dodd was a starter in the 2020, '21 and '22 HatTrick of SL triumphs for The Saints, they dominated. I believe he also was starting when they won the Challenge Cup Final in '21.
In short, Dodd is a proven winner, in fact a class act, he has even sunk Cleary's gang @ Penrith!!

One of the really interesting things to look forward to next season is seeing if Dodd can prove himself in the toughest league in the world. He appears ready for the step up to the big time. Just hope he has the power up front to allow him to operate on the front foot but will also love to see if he has what it takes to play well when we're on the back foot occasionally too. But first things first, he needs to establish himself at NRL level and get used to the pace of the game over here so, he could use a good strong go forward to operate behind to start the season.

Ilias in sg ball single handedly won us the grand final, he can kick goals as well, he wasnt a dud then,he may not be the flashiest or fastest player but he can tackle and was 1 of the best defensive 7s in the comp, which is why i say let him play 9 in regies and see if like crocker of manly he can transition to a 9, he has the phisical attributes,so please, he is not a total loss

Hello Handy its first grade we should be concerned with not how wonderful ilias played at sg ball level in the past thats why souths have told ilias to find another club and we bought dodd and humpreys for 2025 no club wants ilias.

Lastly ilias was rated 14th i think out of 17 half backs in the nrl last year I personally think he is the 17th worst half back to ever lace up a boot period cobber.

Mat crocker and brodie jones from knights are off contract, are both middles and are good players,if we could pinch them it would bolster our pack,we dont even know if tatolas foot will heal in time for preseason

Jones is an edge backrower while Croker is a solid middle that we could do worse than nab. I wouldn't mind both of them but what I really want is another winger also to give us the solid depth we have been lacking out there.

Some bloke called Addo-Carr might be on the lookout for a gig and I sincerely hope we find a way to get him to our club. Wayne will sort him out.

As for a prop, we should also find the next big thing coming up who is actually big. That Lisati bloke who went down to Melbourne from Penrith is unsigned and looks likely. There's a few good prospects around. We shouldn't need to throw big money for a prop and we should offer JAC a spot by offloading Host and maybe Ilias if we can.

Humphreys and Mamo will battle it out over the summer and preseason to see who wins the #9 jersey. The other will likely play #14 although I want to see Jye Gray in that jumper. Might take the first quarter of the season to sort all that out.

I don't see Ilias as being a factor. I think he'll play 7 in reggies if he's still with us.

Cleary is 182 cms ,92 kgs ,26 yrs old.
