The club should wait another couple of months and get him when he's ready to play in May. That would mean we only have to pay for half a season so $400k out of the 2025 cap which sounds like we've been hanging onto (or less if we can get the Roosters to pay some freight just to get him off their books to save them having to pay the rest of the year on a player they want to get rid of) . Then for the following seasons, we are free to negotiate whatever annual salary we and his manager will land on which I reckon would be a fair bit less than $800k but probably around the $600k or so considering he is an international and a premiership winner.

They'll get it done.

Yes I understand ur thoughts im not a fan of his ive never really followed his career in depth but all I know is that he has rep qualities and if he can find his feet with Bennett and play extremely well then what more can you ask..souths need better cattle such as the purple puke and the donkeys and the rorters do in only buying top notch players Smith has been a top notch player in his days at the puke lets see if he can do it again....

If he's the right signing, get him in early, integrate him properly, and maximize his impact. Plus, thinking the Roosters will just chip in to clear him off their books is optimistic at best! If they’re paying, they’ll dictate when he goes, not Souths. Better to lock him in now and control the terms than play a waiting game and risk missing out altogether.

Hey (AS) now thats a better looking spine, But of course we need to buy a fullback a tall fullback + trellmyth he needs to go to centre and once cody slows down in a year or 2 then put mighty mouse aka jye gray in his natural position which is #6..but at least put gray #14 if cody plays next year. He'll need to be integrated either way and wouldn't be selected the week he arrives. 2 months salary is worth approximately $133k so I doubt we can afford to pay more than half of his current salary. And of course I know it would be optimistic to get the Roosters to pay any freight, which is why I said if in bold but they want him gone too so lets see. I don't think there's anyone else that wants him anymore since he has eliminated a few of the other options and I think he probably also really wants to link up with uncle Wayne all along and Wayne wants him too. I reckon the club waits a couple more months simply to fit him into the cap at all.

I wouldnt touch him this year,it takes at least a month to 1.5 months to get his confidence up so thats near end of season,why waste money

All I know is I'm cheering hard for Reyno. He's currently only 18 points from becoming the 3rd highest pointscorer ever. He should be scoring those points for us still but we kicked the greatest own goal ever letting him go. Still, I'm so happy for him, he's a true legend!

Good Lord--at about 9.15 pm I get a nudge in the ribs from my wife---she reckons I was out to it & snoring in front of the TV---she said,"I thought you liked that game." I thanked her for waking me up from my nightmare!! She asked me what the game is called !!!
