The South Sydney Rabbitohs congratulate a true legend of the Club and of Rugby League, Ron Coote AM, on his elevation to Rugby League Immortal status as the game’s 14th Immortal at the NRL Hall of Fame function at the Sydney Cricket Ground tonight.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese told Ron Coote he was a “moral” to become the game's 14th Immortal.

Well, what a great night for the game of Rugby League, and what a great night for our beautiful club. We had a lot to celebrate and be happy about. Firstly, our very own modern-day legends being inducted into the Hall of Fame in GI and Sam. That was huge and well deserved. Wayne as well becoming one of the first coaches inducted, and Benji in there too.

But of course, the biggest one of them all, what a monumental moment having another Rabbitoh as an immortal. Ron Coote. So cool to see!

So not to ruin the party, but old mate today was angry that the Prince of Centres had been overlooked for Ron.

There could be a special south’s jersey of forgiveness done up.

You’d have to have it signed by Bob McCarthy and his eminence, George Piggins himself to make it viable.

The bell would have to be brought out and maybe a descendant of the holy Clive Churchill.

Charlie would need to be present.

If he got this gesture, he could move forward in his life with some kind of peace.

A statement in his will renouncing his roosters premierships and a gift to South’s Cares.

Think of it as a last rites ceremony.

The cardinal and myrtle draped across his coffin one day, that would get him out of mortal trouble, but that would need to be a Member Co decision and given his love for South’s, Rusty might have veto rights.

You can’t leave the rugby league world with two mistresses.

Just a thought. It’s not an easy time for Hard Core South’s fans.

Nup, there were rumours of a some massive fine being imposed.

But if he’s not released, he needs a lot of counseling and education. Bring Wayne in as well and maybe Peter Wallace who is known for turning people around if you can lease him from Penrith. For the good of the game.

Well reading between the lines he won’t be sacked. Why would we argue with the NRL about the 1 match Ban being in r1 2025 if we were to sack him.
This also doesn’t make sense from the club perspective. Yes we want our best team on the park from round 1 but going into bat for him to serve the suspension when the club knew we he wasn’t playing anyway is poor in my opinion.
It’s not punishing him for his behaviour.
Let him sit out rd1 and let him know he has let his team mates and supporters down again

He’s sat out plenty of times, knows he’s let thousands of people down and yet he keeps reoffending.

But also, look at that crowd he’s hanging out with. The scraggly women and the dog snitch who took the photo of him.

In all seriousness, I’d probably send him to a shrink to work out why he keeps damaging himself and give him ways to keep happy without the drugs and bad things.

Then more recently he shirt-fronts anasta when he’s out with his family trying to have a meal.

Just look at ron coote the 14th immortal he was my favourite player as a kid an impeccable human being indeed. unlike latrell mitchell whom brings shame to our club souths and the game sack him he is typical of so much of our way out of control youth of today and it will only get worse the writing is on the wall for all to see.

Here is the difference between the two though. Joey is a proven week-to-week performer who did have certain figures pull him into line during his career. I can't say the same for Latrell.

I think your squad would have a certain sense of relief if he left. Get a fullback that has an NRL standard motor for a start.

I think it’s well known on the Newcastle street that for a significant period Joey had minders to make sure he didn’t go too far.

The big issue for South’s is that they can’t rely on him to take his place due to self inflicted wounds and he’s nothing short of a disaster off field. Alleged Drugs, violence (wighton), hassling journos at dinner, swearing like a drunken sailor on national media and on it goes. We all wait for his next infraction.

JD got the punt after his appeasement policy failed to get the results. I’m sure he got multiple assurances and guarantees from the chosen few that they would amp up but they consistently let him down.

The writing was on the wall when Morris and Sam resigned. That in and of itself, should have sent shivers down the Souths management spine. Very rare and dramatic.

But he will get another leave pass because of competitive culture and the timid personalities running South’s atm.

And it’s a blow to the Cam Murray’s and Arrows of the world who are fighting a losing battle. They are being treated contemptuously while this nonsense continues unabated.

If Lats is not accountable, why should anyone else be? Footy players are fickle.

Well let’s get straight, you don’t own this forum and you’ve got no right to tell anyone here what to think and what to say.

If you want to talk about the merits of Latrell and what a great and wonderful person he is, by all means you go ahead that’s your right.

But getting personal and abusing me for having a view doesn’t cut it and echoes of Eric and his occasional bad temper.

Now go ahead and list his good points, tell us why he should be playing for South’s given his demonstrable violence, his bad mouth, his selfishness and now it looks likes illicit drugs.

What other bad boy boxes can this pathetic mindless idiot tick before your club wakes up and sends him packing?

He’s a sideshow and he makes South’s look like a circus act.

So far as I can tell, none of his critics here are lying or misleading to anyone and us visitors pointing out his shortcomings are pro south’s, that’s why we are here.

If we weren’t concerned for South’s we wouldn’t be here expressing our opinions.
