Just on Taylan May, I can't see how we could fit him in under this year's cap now we have signed Brandon Smith for the remainder of this season.

UNLESS, we are able to include him in our 2nd tier cap as a lower grader for the remainder of this season (and then an NRL contract for subsequent seasons if they wish to tie him down for 26 and beyond).

That may be allowed considering his circumstances being out of the game and needing to come back from scratch? Maybe? Or maybe not. Otherwise, our salary cap is maxed out.

I believe bently hape will get better i believe in giving young fellas a chance,our cap is done now anyway.
On anothet note i love the way newcastle are handing the chooks the basket refusing to cover the total cost of youngs deal,and why should they, he has regressed in quality, his defence is not there, not worth 500k id pay 300k so let them bleed,and if i was young id refuse, its good playing reggies for 500k like dodd the dudd playing reggies for 600k we honestly stuffed up on that deal ,id offer him a payout and export him back to uk

Any payout offered, and taken, counts against the cap, from when the offer becomes effective.
E.g. if he's on $600K for 2 seasons, and you offer him $800K to leave now, that 800 counts on the cap now, which would put us over by $200K for this season.

And that's IF he accepts that pay loss.

Glad it’s official. Welcome Brandon.

I think he has a point to prove and hopefully Wayne can get the best out of him. I think his form at the Roosters was hot and cold. I’m hoping he now has a point to prove to them after leaving them on sour terms. Brandon went for Souths growing up too so that’s cool.

It comes down to attitude with Brandon I think and if he’s focussed and healthy that’s when he plays his best footy.

They played hardball with the knights, not wanting to pay anything for his 500k contract he could have been gone, i doubt they will pay us 200k to take him,after playing hardball with us over B smith and eventually giving in, as i previously said i think young is worth around 300k/ 350k so 500k is overs

From memory, he made comments about the Roosters having a superior culture and such which offended the Storm. He obviously fell for all the Roosters talking themselves up and was silly enough to say it on a podcast when he still had a year to run but apologised for putting his foot in it and played out the final year of his contract. They kissed and made up and he left the Storm on good enough terms.

He has now left the Chooks like a lot of other players because their culture is actually one of dog eat dog and they happily turf players to get other new players in whenever it suits. That's their real culture - still the transit lounge. But he hasn't pissed anyone off - except for signing with their arch enemy :D, he's just stayed real and not been converted into some kind of fake exec type.

So, as far as I can tell, there's nothing at all wrong with the guy.

But, maybe you know something I don't? Care to enlighten me/us?

Would be nice but can't see it happening. What about Taylan May? He could be much, much cheaper given he is looking to start again from scratch. We could squeeze him into our 2nd tier cap perhaps.

He does have a big neck tattoo but at least it doesn't say "No Regerts". :D

How do you know this? Sounds like scuttlebutt.

He is a free spirit who speaks his mind, not a yes man. Bad influence means he leads other players astray. So who has he led astray and how?

Please. Sounds like Roosters bitching about a guy coming to Souths.
