If Souths still had Fifita's money available they still wouldn't have gone to 1.4million for 5 years when he will be 34.

Makes him turning 33 in the final year of his contract. That's if my maths is correct.

These things are always funny, Saints fans are talking about him like he’s Payne Haas, Souths like he’s Blake Lawrie. Truth is somewhere in between. You never know if a contracts good or bad til you’re about halfway through it.

I don’t believe the Fifita signing affected this, more like the Jack Wighton one. Bennett has openly said in the past props are the one position he won’t over pay. He let Justin Poore leave when he was starting for NSW, Glenn Lazarus when he starting for NSW/Aus as he wouldn’t get into a bidding war for either.
