The CFMEU Canberra Raiders have named Trevor Thurling in the starting line-up for their final match of the season against the Sharks this weekend, after an impressive display from the Queanbeyan native last weekend against the Brisbane Broncos.
Thurling's inclusion in the run on side means Dane Tilse will start from the bench this weekend, while Lincoln Withers has been named in the number nine for Saturday night, pushing Ryan Hinchcliffe back to the bench as well.
Joe Picker has been named on the Raiders bench pushing Ben Jones back to 18th man, while Marshall Chalk has been named on an extended Raiders bench.
Glen Turner (shin) is the only Raiders in doubt for the Raiders, but is confident of taking his place on the field Saturday night.

Looks like a pretty strong side, particulalry up the middle and it's great to see Thurling get a run on spot, he certainly deserves it. I think at Bruce we should be able to come away with a win here, would be a good way to finish a frustrating season.

Yeah great to see Thurling getting a start. I reckon he'll be great for us next year. Had a much better game than Tilse against Broncos imo. Hits the line so much harder and runs straight!!! Good to see Howell reatin his spot too. Know he made a couple of blunders but overall was sound.

Good looking side to end the final game of the season.
I gather plum and TLL are still out injured????

I think henry will work on a campo/carney halves combination in the off-season.

Great to see thurling has been givin a starting position,at this point in time i'd have to say his going better than both tilse and weyman.

That looks like a very strong team. Well done Trev on a start mate; you've earned it.

I think Dane Tilse and Mick Weyman can count themselves lucky we have a shortage of props. Both have been average lately and if TLL and Bickers were fit I bet we'd see one of them relegated.

Add Plum into the mix and the forwards cannot be slack next year.

I have been impressed with Kelly on the wing. I was not a fan of his but recently his form has been very good. Well done to Kelly and Milne for their recent form.

Well done Trevor Thurling.

Dane Tilse you're a lucky man.

IF we hold onto the ball and play with the same intensity as last week we should roll the Sharkies comfortably. That's a BIG 'if' though.

Trev's been the form forward over the last couple of weeks and deserves his starting spot ,weyman looks like to be hitting his straps as well , Howell ? hasnt done much wrong but isnt a game breaker like Goodwin can be. we'll need to be strong up front , to take on the likes of the cat Gallen and his friends , we might even get the right any of any 50/50 calls , Hey refs we're playing at home this week gives us a go.
Also it would be nice to have a good completion rate as well.

Bugger I'm going to miss this game ... first home game I've missed for as long as I can remember ... unfortunately my director decided he'd have his 50th this weekend (even though his birthday was last week).

Agree that Thurlo deserves his spot and I hope his efforts are rewarded on a regular basis next season .. he adds a bit of mongrel and by mid-2008 I'm sure he will have developed a very useful off-load ... if Henry does the right thing he'll have some of the smaller guys running off him.

The rest of the side probably picks itself at this stage of the season ... commiserations to Dobbo and Goodwin although they now have a chance to assist the club in getting some reward from their lower grades.

Missing this game will make it an extra long off-season for me.

Howell............

Yes, heaven forbid we pick someone who is in form and has been playing well.

I forgot, we're all supposed to hate Howell because he's....no we're just supposed to hate Howell.

Howell certainly hasn't done anything to deserve getting dropped, he may not be flashy but he is solid both under the high ball and when it's on the ground and his positional play has been spot on.

Has anyone heard of this ref, Bernard Sutton? Let's hope the crowd can win a few decisions from him.

Russel Smith is the video ref, I believe they have hired the pope mobile secifically for the occasion... Looks like they've picked a game that won't impact on the finals to blood some new refs. Could go either way I guess.
